With the strides in playing loopable audio streaming over at hcs.com, especially for GameCube audio, I have become infatuated with ADX. This format came into prominence during the DreamCast era, and allows for seamless, loopable tracks.

What is even better...there are tools and tutorials out there about how to make your own! big_smile

As an experiment, I ripped all(? hope I didn't miss any...) the loopable tracks from Disc 1 of the Dirge of Cerberus OST, investigated them, and got to work. And for the most part, I think it worked! A couple times I had to...um...cheat. wink

Anyway, heeeeeeeeeere's a SendSpace for ya!

Although the files are considerably bigger than MP3s, the loopability more than makes up for it. hcs's in_cube makes it a snap. Still only want one playthrough? You can do that. Traditional two loops? Yep. Three? You bet. Do you want "Counteroffensive" to play over and over and OVER??? Then do it! big_smile

Oh yeah...and a bonus. A fellow named Lian_Kazairl most kindly recorded the unreleased "Tutorial" music. I gave that the ADX spin as well. And I bet my fellow Hmz-fans will love it.

If there's enough demand, maybe I'll go after Disc 2... smile

p.s. Oh yeah...I also went after "More Complicated" and "Beyond the One" from Star Ocean 3 Director's Cut. I'm guessing that some of you want to hear them also...? wink

Definately interested in disc2! Thanks. I didn't like the fact that the tracks did not loop on the OST.
Thanks!

Did they play alright for you?

lordskylark Jul 17, 2006

Yes, they played okay. But did you extract the tracks from the game files directly and that format is adx? Or did you rip the tracks from the OST and change them into this format?

Cause, I know there's quite a bit of music missing from the OST.

Thanks,
~Andy

If you read his post, you'd read that he ripped them from the OST disc.  The BGM in DoC isn't ADX.

Anyway, that is very neat.  Good job. smile how hard is it to loop the tracks?

SquareTex Jul 17, 2006 (edited Jul 17, 2006)

About the same challenge level as my scissor-work to your audio chunks. Actually, perhaps easier since I only have to worry about setting loop points instead of a lot of copy-paste. tongue

Makes me wish that I knew about this back when I was slicing up Musashi Samurai Legend and Dragon Quest Yangus. In fact, I'm almost tempted top release all future break-aparts in this format! big_smile

Oh...I understand that the very latest in_cube plugin MIGHT be playing these in mono. Has anyone experienced this yet?

Man, I had forgotten about all this.

But when the Dirge of Cerberus Multiplayer Sound Collection was handed out recently, well, I sprang back into action.

Enjoy! big_smile
And now I better get to work on Disc 2 of the OST... smile

Yes!

Thanks a bunch smile

SquareTex Sep 10, 2006

...does that SendSpace for disc one of the OST still work?!? yikes

Flexar Sep 10, 2006

No.

SquareTex Sep 10, 2006

Ah, I didn't think so. sad

Well, when I finish Disc 2, I'll repost Disc 1 separately at the same time. Hopefully, it'll be tomorrow or Tuesday.

Umm, do you have any plans on doing DS games, now that STRM2WAV has been released. Deep Dungeon (and a bunch of other games too) uses only STRM for music, but the files are one-loop and there's no support for looppoints yet.

SquareTex Sep 13, 2006 (edited Sep 13, 2006)

I'm not sure yet. It depends on how much time I'll have to play around with this.

Oh...and at LONG LAST...

That's the loopables from DoC disc 2...and I'm finally done!!! big_smile

So...who needs part 1 again?
