This holiday season, what do you want?

By avatar! (Nov 25, 2005)

I hope everyone in the US had a good Thanksgiving! This holiday (which became official in 1863, although it was first celebrated in 1621) officially marks the start of the merchandise season in the US. (All this materialism makes one lose focus on the important things in my opinion, but all that aside...) what are you looking forward to this holiday season? Any games, any presents, anything in particular??

cheers,

I have a good idea.

I want to give freaking Santa Claus and those reindeer and 'Christmas' to the greedy retailers and shop-crazy minivan mayhem moms, and let those of us who still celebrate the season for religious reasons have our day back. I don't care where in the calendar year it goes, just let me have a holiday that hasn't been ruined, stained and pooped on by commerical greed and retarded, cheesy traditions. Thanks.

Other than that, I would love to pick up a few albums I've been wanting for a while - Maxiumum Tune 2, in particular. A girlfriend would be nice, too. ;D

Why not give the day back to the people who had it before the Christians stole it?

By Conn (Nov 25, 2005)

Hey.

>Why not give the day back to the people who had it before the Christians stole it?

I said I'd be cool on any other calendar day. Any Pagans who want the day can fight the retailers for it. :D

By Jay (Nov 25, 2005)

That's fair enough!

>I said I'd be cool on any other calendar day. Any Pagans who want the day can fight the retailers for it. :D

They should televise that - it would make good viewing!

He-he! "Thanksgiving..."

Happy "Thanksgiving"! Celebrating a genocide by committing another one against turkeys! Irony is a sum-mu-ma-beech, ain't it!?

Not really celebrating a genocide.

>Happy "Thanksgiving"! Celebrating a genocide by committing another one against turkeys! Irony is a sum-mu-ma-beech, ain't it!?

It was celebrating survival, as nature tends to not play favorites. And the effort of genocide against turkeys isn't actually true, because their extinction wouldn't be prudent for next year's Thanksgiving.

By Kenny (Nov 25, 2005)

Obviously!

I'm sure you get what exactly what I'm saying, man!

Happy Holidays!

We here in Canada celebrated Thanksgiving a long time ago, in October. Even with that, happy holidays, you guys! Hope you have an excellent new year and all that.

As for what I want for Christmas . . .

Things that are possible:

- MSiA God Gundam and any MSiA Extended figure
- Any cool GBA title (Kingdom Hearts CoM, or Phantasy Star Collection, maybe?)
- Someone to teach me how to perform a drift
- Suikoden 2

Things that are possible, but not likely:

- A GCN game Smash Bros' style game featuring giant anime robots instead to be made.
- A mint RX-7 FC3S Infini (the rare one use by Ryosuke in Initial D)
- Suikoden 2

Things that go under the "It'll never happen" list:

- A Zone of the Enders super posable toyline
- A US release of "Space Runaway Ideon"
- Suikoden 2 :P

Re: Suikoden II

Is the PSP Suikoden I & II collection coming out here? I'm curious if it will and how it will affect the PSX used Suikoden II price. If Konami had any love for their customers, they would release a Suikoden collection on PS2, maybe bringing the Gaiden games over with it.

I'm wondering that too.

Suikoden's fanbase is enormous, falling right under Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior series of games in popularity. Konami would be stupid not release it for PSP (considering that outside of a couple of titles), there is nothing worth owning on the system, and Suikoden re-releases (if they are not outright remakes) would help the system a lot for RPGer's on the go.

Still, even it we did get them, I'd prefer to own the PSX original. Just something about holding the full size disc and case in your hands that the PSP and its' claustrophobic discs can't match.

PS: Ryu, I thought you hated Konami? I don't udnerstand why you'd be concerned about this state of affairs . . .

By Ryu (Nov 25, 2005)

To your PS

>PS: Ryu, I thought you hated Konami? I don't udnerstand why you'd be concerned about this state of affairs . . .

I do, and my complaint is based around one of my reasons why I do hate Konami. Also, I do like the first two Suikodens.

By Conn (Nov 25, 2005)

Maybe.

>Is the PSP Suikoden I & II collection coming out here? I'm curious if it will and how it will affect the PSX used Suikoden II price. If Konami had any love for their customers, they would release a Suikoden collection on PS2, maybe bringing the Gaiden games over with it.

Right now it's only confirmed for a Japan release. Some people who want it are freaking because there has been no word on a NA release whatsoever, whereas they were screaming from every rooftop that Suikoden V was coming to America within a week of it being revealed at TGS.

You'd think Konami would be smart enough to look at the price Sui 2 is going for on eBay and put two and two together. After all, they pay close enough attention to change the Sui V website when a fan opened it up and found a bunch of yet-to-be revealed returning characters. ;D

Even a plain old reprint of the PS1 disc would be good, let alone a PS2 collection. They don't even need to be touched - just copy and paste the code. But apparently not. :/

By Idolores (Nov 28, 2005)

But seriously . . .

>Even a plain old reprint of the PS1 disc would be good, let alone a PS2 collection. They don't even need to be touched - just copy and paste the code. But apparently not. :/

I don't think it'd be a smart decision on Konami's behalf. I mean, how many gamers would be willing to fork over $40 for an admittedly dated PSX game. Don't get me wrong, I'd pick one up and put my original on a shelf somewhere, because I loved the game, but you have to remember that the mainstream gaming market might not think that way.

By Conn (Nov 29, 2005)

Yeahbut!

Gamers are already willing to pay $200 for it....I think a budget release of $20 or $30 would makle a lot of people happy [and a lot of eBay sellers pissed off.]

Enough people know what Suikoden I and II are that they would do well enough for at least a limited run, considering there are virtually no development costs.

For a capitalist pigdog...

...I'm surprisingly nonmaterialistic. The only thing I want is a girl. They're pretty. And soft.

Seriously, I don't know what the hell's wrong with the women in Seattle. How stupid do you have to be pass up someone with a feature set as compelling as mine?

By Crash (Nov 25, 2005)

Have you tried advertising?

You know, post up flyers, asking passersby, 'Would you date this man?' Have some of those rip-off telephone numbers on it, too, and you could get twenty hits from a single flyer.

Or, you could try an online dating service. It worked for me. Very well, actually.

I heard women in Seattle are attractive...

Supposedly Seattle is the fittest city in the US! Personally I would love to find a workout partner (female), so you should feel fortunate! I'm stuck here in Boston with women who prefer to drink beer!!

ceste la vive,

That's Boston for ya!

You might not be able to find a nice girl that'll be willing to actually get to know you and spend time together working out, but if you cruise the streets when the bars are closing you'll find plenty of girls that'll gladly throw up on your shoes.

Ah, Boston. I didn't know you were from around here. I live about 10 minutes from the city myself.

By Conn (Nov 26, 2005)

Dood!

>you'll find plenty of girls that'll gladly throw up on your shoes.

I'm there!

By Zane (Nov 26, 2005)

Hahaha

Sounds good. Make sure you wear your old 'sneeks.

Be careful...

And, after vomiting, they might try to kiss you. (Ever seen Sex is Zero?...)

By Zane (Nov 26, 2005)

I know. X_x

I haven't seen the movie, but I have a little antecdote (sp?).

My buddy's ex went out on a party kick and binge drank at someone's house. Typical underage stuff. She got so hammered she was sick, puked in the bushes, and then came back in and made out with some dude. He had no idea she was out there yakking.

Ew.

antidote*

'To what?'

(In a "well, duh" tone of voice) 'The poison, you just drank the poison.'

*starts laughing at Indie's blatant ignorance*

By Zane (Nov 28, 2005)

Anecdote, I meant.

Like a little short funny story. But I could use some antidote right about now.

*keels over*

It's not just Seattle. They're stupid in St. Louis as well.

By mr. s (Nov 25, 2005)

hmmm...

I had the same thoughts as you about a year ago. Well, sometimes we get what we ask for, so be particular in your wants, because you may get more than you bargained for. Word of advice, DON'T RUSH, take your time, and be picky!

By Schala (Nov 25, 2005)

All right, that's it...

Picture. Of you. NOW.

Hey, me too!

>Seriously, I don't know what the hell's wrong with the women in Seattle. How stupid do you have to be pass up someone with a feature set as compelling as mine?

Haha...dang it, I don't want to resort to online dating. :/ Not that I think it's wrong, but I just don't see myself digging it. I could be mistaken.

I don't know if my 'feature set' is as compelling as yours. If you just mean looks, then I'm decent...I think. I'm sure you all have seen my backstreet boys-eqsue crappy picture on my homepage by now. [http://conn.slightlydark.com/profile.html] Plus, I can write music! Isn't there any girl out there that thinks that's even remotely cool? ;D

But my problem is right now I am 21, living with my dad. That's a big problem - but a temporary one. I'm moving back out soon...it's just so much easier to save up money for the future when rent is free. ;D

Surely the capatilist way would be...

...to simply buy one?

Or many?

Invest in a brothel - have women while your money grows. You can't lose.

That's not the only thing that grows in a brothel.

Dammit, wrong punchline!

Huh? I dunno what'cher talkin' 'bout, buddy! Those plants back there're perfec'ly legal!

Wow, reading over that retranslated FF6 text last night has sparked my interest in story writing all over again..

Peace of mind, sufficient sleep, and a new Yamaha a/v receiver are all I want for Christmas.

By GoldfishX (Nov 26, 2005)

Some upgrades...

Better job and a better computer.

I at least have the computer part taken care of. It came out much cheaper from the breakdown at the link below, since I get it when Dell was having a sale a few weeks ago...about $850. I don't get it until Christmas though.

Nothing too fancy, but I put everything I wanted into it (250 GB, a DVD burner for a second disc drive and upgraded sound/video cards).
