With the release of BioShock 2 fast approaching, here's what we know about the upcoming soundtracks.

The Special Limited Edition of the game will be including The Sounds From The Lighthouse, which is the official, orchestrated score composed by Garry Schyman.  It's a single CD containing twenty-six tracks.  (I've just updated the VGMdb database with the tracklisting.  Don't worry, it appears to be relatively spoiler-free -- but those wanting to go in completely fresh will want to avoid.)

Kotaku reports that the soundtrack being released digitally on Tuesday - in both Standard and Deluxe editions (hit up their link for the tracklistings) - will be "packed with the greatest hits from the 30's, 40's and 50's".  Titled The Official Soundtrack: Music From And Inspired By The Game, these will essentially contain the licensed material used in the game.

What's unclear at this point is whether or not Schyman's score will also be made available digitally.  Hopefully, investing in the pricey Special Limited Edition won't be the only way to acquire the soundtrack.  I've made an inquiry on the 2K Forum, so we'll see what they say.

In the meantime, it looks like someone already got their hands on a copy of The Sounds From The Lighthouse, and made it available for listen on Youtube.  Check it out, and relish Schyman's set of creepy new elegance.
