2K Games has listened to the fans and is publishing a Limited Editon of "Bioshock", the spiritual follow up to the "System Shock" series, for PC and Xbox 360.  Now they are asking the fans what they would like in the Limited Edition.  If anyone out there cares, more votes for a soundtrack CD would be great, it's losing to a figure, artbook and making of DVD right now.  The link with the poll is here:

Who's doing the music to that game?

Garry Schyman, and it's REALLY good. Lots of really weird interesting stuff from surreal violin solos to pieces constructed out of sick people breathing!

I've been voting for the soundtrack daily to show my support... but it's still losing to a "Big Daddy" figurine, artbook and making of DVD. sad

Nice!

Be careful when using iTunes with those MP3s; they're tagged so that each song is its own invididual artist and there is no album title. It's messy.

Nice.

I will say this: I think the game is easily a Game of the Year candidate and it's a masterpiece.

I think the score is also amazing and I splurged for the LE myself. I'm annoyed that all we got were 3 Moby remixes, but for $10 extra, the Big Daddy figures kicks ass, the art's nice, and the making of disc is pretty solid.

You certainly could do worse if you splurge for an LE on a game.

They need to get a real soundtrack out for this, though. The downloads are nice stopgaps as interims, especially since it's free. smile

And add the licensed music on it as well.

The Big Daddy figure is worth $15 alone easily.  That thing is heavy like a planet(tm)
Very pleased.
I'm surprised this game kinda came out of nowhere... then again, I usually only follow RPGs, so maybe it's been a big blob on the radar for quite some time now.

Especially considering the game is considered an FPS/RPG crossover, at least in some circles. tongue

Totally agree! It would be great to have both the licensed period music and original score on the same album.

This game is drenched in atmosphere (pardon the pun) and truly immersive - it really deserves all the accolades.

Msia Aug 24, 2007

I'd really love to find the version of Beyond the Sea they used.  AFAIK it's not the Bobby Darin one.

Arcubalis Aug 24, 2007

Yeah.  It's a shame.  We were hoping for a complete score, but it looks like those free MP3s might be it!  Great stuff though.

Yes, it has been.  The game has been hotly followed since the first Big Daddy character art was revealed back whenever (I'm going to guess 2005, but I could be wrong).
