Hi,

I am searching for this OST. I know it is very rare and expensive and how high the prices go on auctions. I have been looking for it many years, but not continuously so I haven't had a chance to buy it. Please, help me find it. This is the OST of my heart, number one, and I am sure you all know that means. i would take it to be buried with me when I die (so you can just go dig it up later, hehe).

I know it will be tough, but I live in hope to find it, at something that would be a reasonable price for a rare soundtrack like this one.

Thank you, everyone!

Marko

Thank you for replying! I have read that thread and understand the problems. I would prefer to get the Japanese edition for the artwork. Maybe someone who has both versions can sell be the Japanese version now, if they prefer to save the superior one for them? I hope. Later, I will try to save money for the US version as well. I have just bought another expensive soundtrack and one with a regular price; I cannot get everything at the same time wink

I think the real issue is, "do you understand the cost?"  This was the cheapest sold copy on yahoo [which is roughly $850  The only copy on yahoo of the Japanese release is at roughly $1000 and doesn't even have the obi.  On ebay there is a US version for $500 (which they've sold at).

Not to clog your thread with a bunch of rambling posts, but while I do enjoy the DKC2 soundtrack, I just have to say the cost keeps me well away from this one. Well, that and the fact "Mining Melancholy" isn't on either version. I know people are probably sick of me bringing that up (again, sorry) but damn that is a HUGE blow. LOVE that freaking track.

Not to imply anyone else is Mr. Moneybags, but I honestly can't imagine spending that much on a soundtrack. My biggest purchases to date have been:

Rockcan Sound E Can: $250 (at launch through CDJapan; a special order)
Wild Arms XF Original Soundtrack: $225 (Why in the HELL did I sell my original one off in the first place? I'm a dumbass!)
Star Fox: $150 (nearly complete)

I want a copy of MIDI POWER Pro 6 Akumajo Dracula X ~Gekka no Nocturne~ (http://vgmdb.net/album/1275) which I'm guessing $150~$250 complete w/the Power Disc and all the fees for importing? Going to try and get that this year.

I guess my personal cap is $250.

But back on topic the only DKC OST I have is the jewel case American version of DKC3 because the music is still solid at this point and you're not complete breaking the damn bank at the same time.

Good luck on your search though. This is just one I can't imagine shelling out for much like the Super Mario RPG OSV. Man, I'm glad I'm not in love with that one, isn't that thing up to like $500?

I am well aware of the huge price it is being sold for and the missing "Mining Melancholy". I don`t understand how the price got so madly high in the last years, I don`t think anyone is willing to pay more than a few hundred USD for a CD, which is already too high. Yahoo auctions has had crazy prices for this OST  and I think it is an inflated price. Considering the missing track and the defect in the sound volume balance between left and right channel, I hope to find a person who is willing to let go their physical OST CD. Maybe someone has it who is not the biggest fan of DKC and has other OSTs that they cherish more, or maybe they have it just as a part of huge collection. To me, it means a lot personally. I don`t want it because it is rare or interesting somehow, I want it because I am attached to this game and this music in a way I never thought possible. Please, if you ever find someone who is willing to sell it, let me know.

Dumb question here, I just thought about this. I'm not trying to be a cheapskate, but considering what they are asking (and assuming they get it) they couldn't just place free shipping on it? I know that's not going to make it more attractive but if I was trying to move a big budget item like this I would just factor the shipping into what I was asking.

You would definitely think so. For the amount of money they're currently asking for that cd, you'd think they'd be willing to cut a person a break and pay for the shipping.

The inverse is also true -- if you're willing to pay that much money for a CD, shipping is clearly not a problem for you.

True, but on the opposite side again I'd think one would agree that $600 is a more physiologically pleasing number than $610 with $600 being a multiple of 100.

Auctions = physiological warfare, lol.

I think you mean psychological? If you're willing to pay $600 for a cd, you're not looking for a deal. You're just looking for the cd. At that point, $600, $610, $599.99 doesn't really have a psychological impact.

The psychology behind the 99 effect is that you're dropping a significant digit ($1.00 --> $0.99; $10.00 --> $9.99; $1000 --> $999) and it tricks you into thinking it's a deal when it really isn't. Or if it was $599 vs $600, which tricks you into thinking that it's not really $600 ($5xx). It doesn't work that way for for $600 vs. $610, or when it's just a hobby item that you've already committed to buying anyway.
