This might be old news by now, but it's still bewildering. It's nice that Capcom gave the Wii version of Okami its own box art, but for some reason they didn't actually use their own resources to make it. There's a dang IGN watermark embedded in the art:

Come on, Capcom. Come on.

Fission Mailed, Capcom.  Big time.

C'mon Ammy, chomp down on that atrocity and be done with it!

Wow, that is just sad.

Pellasos Apr 20, 2008

what a low-budget job.

this is truely one of the most embarrassing things in videogame history.

Hmmm, I don't see anything...

csK Apr 20, 2008

Its faint but you can just quite make it out.

Thats really very sad.  A new low for US boxart departments... great job marketing guys!

I honestly don't think graphic artists work at CoA.  More like the interns at marketing who know a thing or too about cutting and pasting!

Did someone here actually pic up the game, look at it, and say "ah-ha! it's there alright"?  This seems more like a practical joke to me... but if someone here actually has the game, or has looked at an actual copy in their hands, then I'll believe it. Otherwise, seems fishy... especially since the pic on amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/Capcom-Okami/dp/B … 562&sr=8-1
doesn't look like the pic in the image. But, I haven't checked for myself (yet).

cheers,

I picked up the game, and the mark is there all right.  In truth, I might not have noticed it on first glance, but I'd already heard about it before buying the game on Friday.

Sounds like something soon to be a collector's item.

You mean FAILD? Maybe Capcom intentionally outsourced the artwork job?

Okami looks so delicious that I might have to bite twice.  I never finished it the first time around, but I don't know that I'd spend $40.00 again on the same game - even if it is Okami.

Angela, did you ever play it on the PS2?  If so, let us know if the difference is worth it.

Yep, I did play through the PS2 version, and so far, just a smidge of the Wii version.  I decided to post my impressions in the more 'official' thread here:

The watermark also shows up on the official Okami Wii strategy guide, too. Whoooops....

I don't think a professional graphic designer worked on this.  This is a newbie mistake.  I mentioned this to some professional graphic designers, and they all cringed when they saw the image.

I studied graphic design as my major. An error like that? My professors would kill me and for a pro or something who should be knowledgable in the field, discredit you. I mean, man...did they just pull anyone off the street or is this some intern that fell asleep in class?
