This is exactly why extremely limited items are dumb. Speculation is a plague and anyone who partakes in it disgusts me.

I also dislike "limited collector's editions."  If you think about the VGM that's highly collectible today, none of it was intentionally produced in small quantities in order to "manufacture a collectible."  Rather, it's just plain good stuff that wasn't in huge demand at the time, is hard to find in nice condition due to age, is often missing obis and stickers because people didn't know to keep those, etc.  Things that became collectibles naturally.

It looks like the general album release (Type C) in May lacks the 16 jingles and 5 piano arranged pieces.  So, I guess Type A and Type are collectibles, since Type C lacks those tracks.

That is correct. Type A is the super limited 2000 copies USB stick thing. Type B is the moderately limited (first print run sold out but they made a second one because of the high demand) version on CD. Type C is the regular edition. Type A and B have the additional tracks but C does not.

The speculation issue is really on Type A because it was limited to 2000. I don't know the numbers on Type B but there was definitely enough to meet demand so I don't think speculation will be a huge issue. It will demand higher secondary market prices but nothing crazy (I think).

Let them spend their moneis! They even made three editions in order to maximise sales and profits. Someone's been reading an economics book.

Interestingly, prices on YJA have been coming down for the USB version.  Here are realized sales sorted by date:

Auctions ending in May have ended for an average of 100,000 yen, which is much much lower than the first few auctions (200,000 yen and up).  So everyone who bought really early, before the market established a fair price, is out a cool $1,000.

I suspect the long-term price of the USB version will be 50,000 yen or less, which is a full 50% drop from current values.
