Dragon's Dogma Online is official and... free-to-play?!

Hard to imagine this won't impact the quality but I hope I'm wrong. I wonder if they're just going to recycle much of the first two games (the second one itself largely recycled) and add the online component.

Not really "free" since it has microtransactions. I wonder what they're going to charge for? Anyway, I certainly have no interest in playing this. Give me DD 2!

I didn't really get into DD for some reason. People keep telling me how good it is, but it just failed to capture me.
I didn't spend more than a couple of hours on it, so I don't see myself getting into this either, especially since I'm not a huge fan of online RPGs in the first place (although FFXIV was great).

Also, man, I do not like Capcom's attitude towards F2P and microtransactions, so I will be staying far away from this.

Well you could say this about a lot of games but I don't think you've really given it a fair shake at only a couple hours. (Of course it's the designers' responsibility to make their games interesting within that time.) How many boss battles did you make it to? The appeal for me really was in the boss battles and exploration, and I don't recall getting a good feel for either in the first couple hours.

I'm inclined to start a second play-through so will have a better idea then. big_smile

As for Dragon's Dogma Online, as respectably as the pawn system was implemented in the first games they were still begging for online co-op, so if that part is done well I'll be interested in DDO. Provided they aren't super-annoying with the microtransactions.

I don't remember exactly how far I got.
I seem to recall fighting some big creature outside an encampment, and then after that I had to head to the next town or something, and I did some exploration, and that's where I stopped. Just didn't feel it at all.

I can see where you're coming from, but I already have a huuuuuuge backlog of games, so if anything fails to grab me in the first few hours, I won't be finishing it.
