A few months ago I was excited reading How Nobuo Uematsu's Newest Soundtrack Made Final Fantasy Creator Hironobu Sakaguchi Cry article on IGN, but also worried that like previous Mistwalker mobile titles, Fantasian would never get a proper OST release.

Luckily, I was wrong and a few days ago Nobuo Uematsu × Hironobu Sakaguchi Works Collection ~ Music from FANTASIAN was released both in physical and digital forms. Another unfounded worry was that with the game being an Apple Arcade exclusive, the OST would only be available on Apple Music, but turns out it's available on all major music streaming platforms including Spotify, Tidal and Deezer. Oddly enough, it's also freely available on Youtube.

So, anyone else gave it a listen? While I wouldn't agree with Uematsu's bold statement that Fantasian is the best soundtrack he's ever made, there's definitely some good stuff here.

I'll be sure to listen to it sometime. I've been a fan of Uematsu for around 20 years now, ever since I got the FFXI OST in 2002.

I didn't care for the first several tracks nor did anything stand out on the third disc, but there's some decent stuff in between. I wouldn't rank it with his FF material even with the modern instrumentation but it's worth checking out on one of the streaming services. Several tracks are at the end of the Spotify Game Music Orchestral Best playlist.
