A guy by the name of CakeJarey has been posting a huge number of FF6 game music "remakes" on YouTube - but not FF6 remixes, as your first impression might be, but instead other game music tracks arranged into FF6 style with the FF6 sound font. A lot of them sound really good, and I'd love to have MP3s of this collection.

Some selections:
Another Termina (Chrono Cross)

The Extreme (Final Fantasy 8)

FF13 Battle Theme

Judgment Day (Final Fantasy 7)

It's not all FF arrangements - there's Megaman, Ducktales, Pokemon, really a very wide variety of different games, but the FF series is the main focus, and it works great. His channel is here:

Why did I have to click on that related video that combines The Extreme with Angry German Kid?

Nice find though. Some of the songs make for an interesting effect, depending on what instruments are used. He's got a few NES style too, which I like.

There's hundreds of ways of getting Mp3s from YouTube vids.

Some get the Final Fantasy V treatment as well.

I must be one of the few on the planet who really digs FFV's sound font.

I dig that flavor as well. It has a charm all its own.

That's pretty clever and most of them actually work out well.  My favorite so far isn't even from a Final Fantasy.  Check out the Mega Man 3 Title Screen FFVI ver.:

Love the piano intro and the booming beats for the rest of it.

Usually never even try any fan-made stuff, but these creations are very interesting and very nice efforts. Don't know why he selected FFVI. Haven't heard FFVI OST for years, but didn't the chorus sample suck?

That's an interesting concept and if nothing else really reinforces how closely tied the games' sound systems were to the soundtracks, especially back in those days.  Also reinforces how important the sound designers' jobs were; I can see how a few of those new combinations could work but I don't think he's tweaked the FF6 instruments to their full potential.

Worth checking out though. smile

The chorus was only used in "Dancing Mad", right?  (Along with the solo "vocals" in the opera sequence.)  The chorus samples certainly show their age but for an SNES game of that time I wouldn't say they sucked.

I meant that vocal sample in the opera scene. I still think that was awful, although I'd grant many people, including me, at that time were impressed with the entire presentation nonetheless.
