Outside of Open Office Base, does anyone know any good free database software?

I've decided to finally try the arduous task of cataloging my entire music collection, and unlike most people, I do not want to just use the sort of info that the CDDB or FreeDB has to offer (In fact, the name of the CD will be irrelevent, as will the "artist").
Don't need anything too fancy, just something that's easy to set up and enter each entry, with good sorting and searching options.

There's an application called Collectorz.com Music Collector that is relatively good.  It's very robust and has a ton of options for cd catalogueing.  I tried using a while ago but it was actually too robust for my needs and I ended up ditching it.  Besides being able to fill out a RIDICULOUS amount of cd-related information, it has customizable xml templates you can use to export it into these fancy-pantsy webpages.   It's geared more towards US cds but you can still put in imports.

If you want to use a generic database apps I'd suggest http://www.kexi-project.org/ (downloads for Windows are also available).

tossing in the generic "learn SQL and code your own front-end from scratch" response...

Naw, I don't need to do anything online (only plus I can see there would be for backup purposes)

The collectorz thing isn't what I'm looking for because I'm cataloging the music itself, not the CDs.

The Kexi-Project software looks like it might just work, though. Thanks.

(edit: Upon furthur examination, it looks like the Windows version is ademo, Damn)

If not, I'll have to stick with Open Office Base...or maybe I can scrounge up MS Access from my dad if he has it...

Has anybody tried OpenOffice Base and been impressed or even marginally pleased?  I've tried it before and am in fact giving it another look today for a simple database for school, but the poor usability and lack of documentation make it seem atrocious.  Makes me tempted to install my old copy of Access '97!  I've gotten used to the Writer app but even it makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes.

Get what you pay for I guess.
