This is the second time in three months that I've gotten the Red Ring of Death from a 360. Microsoft is officially on my shit list.

You know, if it weren't for that small, insignificant and totally unimportant nugget of frustration, I'd probably have sprung for a 360 already and might even be endorsing Microsoft.

*sigh* Why couldn't they have DLC for PS2 Rock Band instead...

Any word on PS3 failure rate, BTW?

Everything I've read seems to indicate that the PS3 is by far the most solid piece of gaming hardware that Sony has ever built.  There's a certain irony to them finally making decent hardware but then failing on the software front (in my opinion, anyway).

Yeah, I haven't heard *any* complaints about the hardware part of the PS3, just the crappy game library.

I'd be more broken up about sending the 360 back in but truth is, I barely touch it. There's only so many shooters you can play before you burn out on the genre. My DS gets most of the action...

It won't break!  Until you get angry that there are no games on it tongue

While I totally understand that stereotype for the original Xbox, practically none of the (now pretty vast in number) games I'm really dying to play on the 360 are shooters.  But my taste in games really doesn't seem to be the norm, since I thought the Cube had the best library last gen.

I heard once the new 65 nm chips are installed that theoretically the problem should go away. As for the PS3 failure rate, I do know someone who purchased a brand new one, only to have it fail right away! He got it replaced and it's been fine since then.

cheers,

The biggest problem is that when you send in a 360 to Microsoft, they usually send you back a refurbished one, and it is very rarely one of the ones with the new chips.
