THey should do a live concert someday. I would have gone to that...

10 tracks in all from the GS1-GS3 series.

Story medlies.
MAyoi's Theme
Tonsanaman's Theme
ETC.

At this moment, it can ordered from Tanomi's site or Tokyo game show.
2 different covers and 2 3-d papermodels inside. Models of phoenix or Edgeworth in their super-deformed anime style.

Edit: GS4 orchestrated theme will be on this cd; not an actual separate cd.
Apologies for the mistranslation..

There is excitement in my pants for this one. Also, those pictures are awesome.

Hell Yeah!!
Can't have enough Gyakuten Saiban...

Are you guys sure that the cover pic will be the only difference between CPCA-10178 and CPCA-10179?   I'm guessing they'd switch up a few tracks too, to make you get both.

PeteV Aug 18, 2006

Noriyuki Iwadare is doing the arrangement.

Awesome.

And why is Miles's hair brown in the cover?

Pfft. Maya's cuter. Mia's just another in the long line of Morrigan-melon designs.

As far as the album goes...all together now:

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!

Zane Aug 18, 2006

Angela. Amazing.

the_miker Aug 18, 2006

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!  Can't wait for this release!  If done right, this could be album of the year.  Come on Iwadare, we're all rootin' for you not to kill this one.  And..

No objections here. wink

This IS a good year for arranged albums...Guess the professionals realized they can't let those doujin guys get all the glory!

I'd prefer more of an electronic/rock arrangement myself (especially considering the nature of my favorite GS tracks), but Iwadare's orchestral stuff generally works pretty well with me (thinking Grandia 1), so I'm looking forward to this.

Crystal Aug 18, 2006 (edited Aug 18, 2006)

I like cheesecake too, especially with chocolate sauce.

Mia looks classy in that orchestra pic.
I think I saw a nice pic of her in a chi pao once.

Maya's just....cute, not sexy.

Stephen Aug 18, 2006

There are two different covers, but they each have different catalog numbers.  So is it actually two albums?

XLord007 Aug 19, 2006

I'll definitely be wanting this one.  Here's hoping Kahori stocks it.

Datschge Aug 19, 2006

The second one is available just at the TGS, so I reckon there is no difference except for the cover.

You mean, this one?

Mad respect to Maya's Steel Samurai keychain there.  And, because I felt an unyielding need to see unity, I edited those two covers together to make this ensemble shot.  (Adding Larry's shoe and the shadowing was the toughest part):

Yeah that's the one!

Anyways, I hope this doesn't end up like Hyrule Symphony where it was just a strings ensemble or it's made by a synthesizer faking a real orchestra.

Well, personally I loved Hyrule Symphony!  I feel that all too often symphonic arrangements rely too much on brass, and I welcomed the quiet and relaxed atmosphere that was Hyrule Symphony.  I doubt you'll have to worry about that though, I think string ensembles are very rare in game music.

cheers,

Iwadare will most likely be using a full symphony orchestra enhanced with an electric bass and acoustic/electric guitars. Emphasis will be on the winds though (a personal "yay" for me), most likely. That's just his thing, as is apparent on Grandia I and III OSTs.

Delightful Adventure and Legendary Pilot King ftw.

Ramza Aug 21, 2006

So wait, the only difference in the printings will be artwork? These aren't gonna be separate recordings? Plz clarify.

Samples are up.

http://www.nintendo-inside.jp/news/190/19050.html

Ah Crap!
It is NOT a real orchestra as in 100 piece orchestra with strings, woodwinds, and brass, percussion, etc.

This is just half-assed synthesizer stuff and some instruments ditties here and there..
sad   yikes

In other words, this is like a remix album.

Despite this fact, they do sound ok.

Thanks for the samples.  They must have sampled about half the album there smile  I'm not impressed with the samples, and I don't think a real orchestra would have helped much.  I'll take this off my purchase list.

Yeah, so it's not a real orchestra.  But I'm still digging it.  Definite purchase for me.  It's a nice twist on PW music and it has that slight Iwadare sound from G3 that I liked.

And damn.. do I even need to buy it?  Seems like they basically have the whole album up on this "samples" page, heh.

Stephen Sep 5, 2006

The music is acceptable, but the orchestral arrangement doesn't seem to capture the catchiness of the original synth.  The synth definitely sounds like Iwadare's instruments.

Maybe orchestral wasn't the right arrangement for this...

Just another mention here that Magical Trick Society's Phoenix Wright doujin album CADENZA is made available to download.  Grab the full 80 MB-sized .rar file here.  It is AWESOME.  ^_^

Angela Sep 7, 2006

Interesting.  Nintendo-Inside took down the samples, and placed up the claim that they were just a "midi data sound source, used only for directional purposes for the true orchestral arrangements."

Qui-Gon Joe Sep 7, 2006

I was wondering if that might be the case, actually, but there didn't seem to be anything in the text there to indicate that before.  Well, will let you all know the night after TGS, probably.  smile

Carl Sep 7, 2006

Thanks for the link, Angie.

I bought this just because it was PW, but really I don't care much for anything MTS has done, either they add nothing new to the song or just "technofi" it.

After putting some more time into this album, MTS did good, though the source material obviously helps.
