Anyone here play homebrew games? I think I'm going to get an NES (well, probably the NT mini) just to play homebrews smile
OK, maybe to play some great NES games I missed... since there were some 2000 games, I'm sure there were some great NES games I did not play tongue

Aren't there only 713 licensed games on the NES?

Note: Sorry to split hairs.

I think the PS1 and PS2 have about 2000.

Yeah, I think if you count the unlicensed AND famicom games it's about 2000 (maybe more?)

I'm definitely interested in homebrews, since they actually seem far better than most licensed games! Although some homebrews are just English translations of games that never made it stateside, such as "Sweet Home"

Started playing "Zelda Outlands" on my AVS.

Hard for me to describe just how much fun this game is! Perfect? no, but perhaps not far off. There are occasional slowdowns when there are lots of sprites on the screen, but otherwise THIS is the game I've wanted to play for so long big_smile

It really does capture the feel of the original Zelda (my favorite game in the series)! Now, don't get me wrong. I don't want to play the original Zelda again. I loved it, but that was years ago. It holds no surprises now. However, it's simple style was beautiful and endearing. Now, a fan-made game not only captures the spirit of the original game but improves upon it in so many ways.

By the way, this game is easily obtainable on a cartridge today. A number of companies produce it upon demand, and yes, they also manufacture a high-quality map, box, and manual yikes
It's like reliving your childhood, only harder and better tongue
