Oh, just a slight underestimate on Nintendo's part? NO. HELL NO. Nintendo has been doing this for years! For decades in fact (arguably). I recall when this happened to me while trying to get the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition. Sold out at once, and tons of secondary prices that were 4-5 original cost. Same thing with the NES Classic. Not that I was super interested in the Classic, but if it was around I would have ordered one for retail as a present. But, no copies were around at all. So, was Nintendo just "shocked" that this was such a seller? Well, from Wiis, to Amiibos, to Fire Emblem, Nintendo has a history of apparently purposely under-producing items.

Although I will add sometimes it's good to notice that even the common Nintendo fan is pissed at Nintendo. But yes, I happen to agree with what he says, and I'm still pissed at Nintendo. Any chance they'll release more Zelda LEs? Somehow I doubt it knowing Nintendo...

I don't know. I mean I'm not going to argue that Nintendo has its head up it's ass when it comes to this stuff, but I can't help but feel I have to look at each case on a one-on-one basis.

For example:

NES Classic - they're obviously going to make more of these, if I wanted one I wouldn't mind being patient.

Fire Emblem Fates SE - Correct me if I'm wrong, but the SE contains a significant chunk of content, right? Can you get this digitally? Anyway, I think this one is unforgivable.

All of the game content is available digitally, so you're only missing out on the physical goodies (the artbook etc.).
The only difference is that the SE is the only version that has all the content on a single cartridge.

That's what I thought. That said, I see how this could be maddening to physical media collectors which is why I'd single this one out more than some of the other ones we're referring to.

If Birthright and Conquest were their own games ala Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons that would have been cool. If they were like Pokemon Blue and Red that shared most everything but exclusive characters/missions you could trade to each other, that would have been cool. Because they took the content of both games and shoved them onto 1 cartridge makes me feel like it is 1 game that they split up to nickel and dime people.

Revelation, the third chapter, was ONLY available digitally unless you purchased FE Special Edition. So although Birthright and Conquest can be purchased on cartridge separately, the only way to get a physical copy of Revelation was through the limited edition. I thought this was doggy-doo on Nintendo's part.

You're both right; still. the only thing that matters is I'm informed now and not confused over this. Again, not a Fire Emblem fan but I am a proponent of physical copies so I understand why people were disgruntled.

I've been to about 10 different Target stores, going back about a year. Almost everytime, their shelves have been bone dry empty on every Nintendo console. Whatever angle you look at it, it's a disgrace and embarrassment they can't even keep their shelves stocked with their own product. I never see this for Sony and Microsoft's displays. Whomever is in charge of their manufacturing is awful. I can't even see starving the consumer as a corporate strategy as a sane move. Does Nintendo just devalue Target or is this a regular thing in most stores?

You know, to be honest I don't think it's a slight against Target. My friend who works in the electronics department at the store I work at (not a Target) told me that they've actually deleted the NES Classic from the database after Christmas because they have NO faith in getting more of them in a timely fashion. I think that tells you something.

Additionally, I thought it was pretty damn scummy (actually it is scummy) when certain managers bought most of those NES Classics before they even made it to the sales floor. There's policy that's actually meant to prevent that from happening yet it's pretty damn easy to circumvent. I'll be honest, I don't know how could fix that - I don't have a good solution and there may not be.

However, on the other hand, before Christmas we couldn't keep Hatchimals on the selves. After Christmas everyone found out how lame the damn things were and we can't get rid of them now. I pity anyone who paid over retail.

So I just checked, and there are over 200 live auctions on ebay for Zelda Master edition and some 700 completed. If Nintendo ever removed it's head from its arse, they might learn something.
