Oh yeah, the "Press Start 2007" Symphony is on Saturday Sept.22, then JDK Band on the next Saturday Sept.29  ...pretty cool timing!

Yup.  Looks like we'll be seeing each other two weekends in a row, Tim. big_smile

This is definitely awesome news.  JDK Band Reborn?  HOT.  Looks like there will be guest vocal appearances by Kanako Kodera (from Sora no Kiseki) and Icarus Watanabe, who rocked the house at Falcom Live 2007.  The CD they're giving out is evidently titled "Falcom Unpublished Music Collection Fall 2007," and according to the website, contains pre-arranges from works currently underway and previously unpublished album music.  It won't be for sale.  There will also be special sales of Sora no Kiseki PSP, SC The 3rd OST, and Falcom T-shirts at the concert.  Rad.

Looks like tickets go on sale in early August, so any day now I presume.

Argh!  The first cool exclusive giveaway at a concert that I've seen and I will be gone from the country by then.  Justin, steal a second one for me!  ^_^

Oh, and I just realized I never replied to that keitai mail you sent me.  I'm leaving on Saturday.

GoldfishX Jul 31, 2007

But...IIRC, I thought Justin HATED the JDK Band with a passion.

Obviously, this is good news. Hopefully, we're going into a full 80's thing instead of the ugly mish-mash of symphonic and rock music the Ys Origin Arrange Album turned out to be. Hopefully more like the two JDK Band style arranges on the Ys VI Vocal album.

The original JDK Band headed by Tomohiko Kishimoto?  Yeah, not a big fan of them.  They pulled off a few good arrangements here and there, but I never liked Kishimoto's style.  This is why I'm excited about JDK Band being "reborn."  Which I'm hoping means: new aka. no Kishimoto. smile  If they kept the members from Falcom Live 2006 and 2007, I'd be thrilled.

See what happens when you leave Japan.  How could you. wink

Heh heh, no problem man.  Let me know if there's anything you want me to pick up for you.  Have a safe trip back.

Wow... what I wouldnt give to be able to go to this... Hopefully we'll get some recorded footage and some rips of the CDs.  Have fun to those who are going, I am jealous!

PeteV Sep 29, 2007

I got the CD by preordering Sora no Kiseki SC for the PSP.  You can download it here:

<Legend of Heroes Sora no Kiseki -jdkBAND PreArrange & Ohirome edition->

Ramza Sep 30, 2007 (edited Sep 30, 2007)

Pete, was it listed like that in English? Or is that your translation ... my first two thoughts are "Ys Eternal" or "Ys 21st Century"

and new songs for Zwei Online = yesplease!

PS - what was the packaging like? Any scans you can provide?

PeteV Sep 30, 2007

It's listed like that in English, you can see it on Falcom's official site:

http://www.falcom.com/info/index.html

My guess is that it's a new arrange album or another remake of Ys I.

PeteV Oct 24, 2007

Falcom will release a DVD of the 10/8 concert on 12/20.  The only catch is that it will not be sold separately.  You have to preorder the Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki Material Collection for the PSP from Falcom's online shop.

Was there a post earlier (sendspace?) to the audio from this show?  Can someone repost, or post some samples?  Curious, was there a live drummer involved?

thx

Amazingu Oct 25, 2007

It was all live, live guitars, live drums, live violin, and live synthesizer.
The violin got really drowned out by the guitars though, that was kind of a shame.

Good show / performance?  Worth getting the DVD?

Amazingu Oct 27, 2007

The performances were great. You could tell that everyone was having a great time and JDK Band totally brought down the roof.

I should point out that I know next to nothing about Ys (as I write this I am still not sure whether it needs an apostrophe or not), but the show totally blew my socks off.
Justin (Xanadujin) told me they were all songs that had been arranged before though, so I don't know how much worth it will be to fans who already have all the CD's.

Me? Yes, I would definitely like that DVD please.

GoldfishX Oct 27, 2007 (edited Oct 27, 2007)

I know Ernst hasn't been arranged yet, so at least that one's new. "To Make the End of Battle" and "Valestine Castle" are Falcom trademarks from JDK Band 1 (and many other albums!) Everything else is from the recent Ys games (Napishtim or Origin) or the LOH VI series. I think the more recent arranges have covered everything else (most of the LOH ones were the vocals..."Cry for Me, Cry for You" was from the recent LOH VI 3rd soundtrack). Did "Release of the Far West Ocean" have vocals? If not, it might have been a new arrangement. Don't care how many times I've heard these...Bring on the DVD!

Can't imagine the JDK Band without Kishimoto...or WITH a violin.

Carl Dec 19, 2007

Well the DVD is being shipped now, I ordered through Otokichi Premium's service.

Hope it'll be quite full and not just a few clips...

Carl Dec 22, 2007

Package just arrived.  DVD is 15 minutes  sad

But it's 15 minutes more than nothing...   Anyways, it's quite a small venue, practically the same as a doujin sized show.  Guess I'm too used to Falcom going all out with a big budget, like in the past.

The music is fairly good though, so I'll get a DivX encode whipped up soon in a few days for people's enjoyment.

Carl Dec 26, 2007

Alright, here's the whole vid for your viewing pleasure.
