Well, I'm assuming the one for sale on VGM World is a little too expensive for your tastes, but I couldn't really find anything else other than a few used copies on Amazon.co.jp. They are cheaper, but unless you have someone in Japan to help you out, it might come out to be about the same as if you ordered it from VGM World.

Yowza! $100 is... way too much. I'm not a cheapskate, but that's a little nutso. Those AJ ones aren't too bad, but I'd like to see if I can grab one semi-locally first. Thanks for your help!

Honestly, it's worth it...It can be hit or miss, but it's one I come back to a lot. Especially considering most of these tracks are totally unfamiliar to me (including the Warhawk, which was an easy choice for that VGM Guitar Hero candidate list I made a few months back). Even the Space Invaders/Xevious material is pretty tasteful and I can't really ask for a better version of the SFII opening.

But as for obtaining a copy...Good luck.

I'd like to think that I had something to do with Zane wanting this:  isn't the Xevious cover just awesome?

Zane, I know how you are about buying CD's and whatnot, but if you want a rip, send me an email.  I'd be happy to send you the whole thing.

Yeah, dude, totally. It was your comment on the SOTW thread that made me listen... then I found the rest of the album and realized that I am a fool for not seeking it out further. I need more awesome VGM rock! Actually, since I found the MP3s, now I just need the actual disc. smile Thanks for the offer, man.

I paid for this album on the 16th and I got it today. I am currently listening to DAITA tear ass into the SFII opening theme. Awesome disc!

There's some good stuff on here but I have no idea where they found these arrangers -- some can really cook. The Barn Theme is also quite nice.

By the way, that site has the original Actraiser disc for 4,200 yen! As this decreased in value since those Koshiro Volumes released?

Ramza Feb 20, 2008

I've wanted this album ever since it was listed on Chudah's Corner. I mean ... Japanese people arranging MYST? Totally hot.

Zane ... wanna write a review for RPGFan? tongue

Curious what you think of The Warhawk.

It's my favorite track so far. It has a nice groove to it, a sweet melody and some solid guitar work. Two thumbs way up. I'm still exploring the disc right now, but Warhawk is an early fave.

More likely that nobody checks that shop and didn't notice the bargain...  In the past I've picked up a few OOP albums for VERY reasonable prices.

But it's not a high volume shop, so stuff trickles in and out pretty slowly.

discoalucard Feb 21, 2008

Wait, people like this CD? I bought this a few years ago for a stupidly low price at Book Off and I was never that impressed with it. Should I give it another listen or something?

Ramza Feb 21, 2008

yes Zane, prz write for me!

disco -- shows how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe it's harder to appreciate the CD when you spend $7 for it at Book Off. tongue

In a sense, that's why I like the idea of how downloads affect music...By removing the rarity factor, it's solely about the music.

I personally don't like every arrangement on the album (the Myst one and never cared for the NiGHTs or FF ones). Everything else is sitting on 5 stars in iTunes, which is impressive considering how little of the originals I knew. I did like the fact they arranged some Puyo Puyo on there...That's what got my interest in the whole thing originally.

disco: I personally put this right at the level of the Dracula Battle albums, so yeah...Would definitely recommend a couple of second-listens.

I'm not crazy about the NiGHTS or Myst arrangement, but so far everything else has been great. The FF arrangement is just okay for this album, but compared to other Prelude arrangements it's pretty damn good!

And DA - yeah, man. Give it a few more spins. smile
