I liked the previews i heard for this disc and now after i've gone through the whole thing I rather quite enjoy it.  It's mostly electronic stuff, a few styles here and there i didn't quite care for.  I certainly hope there's more.  There's some Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Mana stuff, Romancing SaGa.  I hope there's more of this where it came from.

anyone else try this one out?

Never heard once of it. Got a reference link for it?

Checked out the samples. Tracks 3 & 4 are annoying, 3, because of the buzzing guitars, and doesn't sound a thing like the original, and 4, they made sure that the bleeping chiptunes were especially grating.

Track 7 is almost identical to the rendition of it on Final Fantasy Remix...

They were a few promising tracks, like the "Jammin' New Year's Eve" jazz rendition of the FF Prelude, but other than that...

Ehh, I think I'll probably pass on this one.

Tried out a download and didn't really like it.
The remixes didn't seem to offer much in terms of getting hooked by the beats NOR any feeling of nostalgia, so it didn't win on either front for me.

The piano track (9) was enjoyable, but I wonder how it got included, being the odd-man-out compared to the rest of the styles on the album.

I don't know how long the sample goes, but it is absolutely *not* like the FFRemix version. This one has a female vocalist. It's far better. It's better than the FFRemix version and, IMO, better than muZik's version on the FFIII DS OST.

My thoughts here:

Tracks 1 and 5 feature piano and drums. Track 1 is a full big band.

So it's not like the album has a consistent musical style. It's not all techno-synth stuff. I think that's how it got included: there was no rule on genre. smile

Track one is performed by the band PE'Z -- a jazz-fusion band with emphasis on horns (a tenor sax and trumpet). They have a ton of albums and are probably more well known in Japan among j-fusion fans.

XISM, I did not know this. Thanks for the tip!

Out of curiosity, have you heard the artist "Midori" ...? I think that's a jazz fusion kind of deal too.
