Hmmm, considering that I already own the MM1 - 6 collection and the MM10 OST, I'm not going to fork over such a considerable amount of money for this.

Let's hope they have something more game-related in store for his anniversary as well.

I'd definitely want to see how that set is packed before even thinking about purchasing it. I wouldn't want to spend that many bolts on something unless it had separate cases for each CD... the thought of just stacking CDs on top of one another doesn't sit well with me.

Ditto. Though I doubt they'd just stack 'em. That initial product shot probably reflects ... nothing of the final product. The CD backs look like CD-Rs after all. tongue

In any case, I probably can't spring for it. I'm boxed-set drained after SaGa, Mana, and DQ.

Must... sate... box... addiction... This + Nadia + Yamato = $'(

XISMZERO Jun 21, 2012

This is the most quintessential, must-buy in years in and out of the realm of box set releases. *Charging*

Remastered...I'm scared. Hopefully they bring out the depth and warmth of the chiptunes by increasing the dynamics and they don't just jack the volume up (like most "Remastered" albums sitting on music store shelves). Chiptunes that get smacked by the loudness wars are NOT pleasant to listen to.

I have the soundtracks for everything but 7 and 8 (7, I prefer my gamerip...can care less about 8), so I'm interested mostly in this "remastering". About $200 retail is kind of a lot for stuff I already have most of, plus shipping/fees.

I wonder if the Saturn-exclusive tracks will be represented? Nice set, in any event.

TerraEpon Jun 22, 2012

I just want the PSX tracks myself, alas.
I wonder if the NES ones will be 'remastered' into stereo or not?

XISMZERO Jun 22, 2012

Since Suleputer is handling this set, maybe their Rockman 7 disc won't be riddled with production imperfections.

XLord007 Jun 23, 2012

I'm glad that they're doing this, but I don't really have much need for it since I already have all of these OSTs. The PSX arranges would be the only incentive for me, and I don't think they're worth the asking price alone.

LiquidAcid Jun 23, 2012 (edited Jun 23, 2012)

Same goes for me. I would also complete my collection with the soundtrack for part 7,8 and 10, but IMHO these are pretty underwhelming anyway. So I don't see any reason to squander money (and shelf space) for that beast.

Nice idea though, if they manage to make the packaging "working".

track preview with pictures is up. click the original link.

Zorbfish Jul 2, 2012

Glad to see that it is not actually a spindle. And looks like we do get the Saturn tracks, so now the only worry I have stopping me from preordering is remastering like GoldfishX. Also, wondering if they can get both NES + PS on one disc without any wankery...

I guess now is a good time to ask; is it safe to assume TEAM Entertainments releases just aren't that good? I recall McCall bitching about the Shadow Hearts 2 release, and I've never heard a good thing about the Megaman 7 and 8 discs.

I've never had issues with Suleputer, however. That they're handling production of this set is good news in any event.

I think it is more of an issue of who does the mastering, etc. There are plenty of Team Entertainment releases that aren't riddled with problems, at least, from what I've heard.

For what it's worth, you can use CDJapan's special request service to order this (I just did).

XISMZERO Jul 12, 2012

Though I'd love to throw down the money but I'm concerned about the cramming of FC/NES and PS tracks onto one disc which might compromise double loops for each of the games tracks. I know 1,2 & 3 were spotty with music borrowed from the Power Fighters games, but 4,5 & 6 had mostly new material to those games.

Also, I'm betting there will not be individual music credits other than "Capcom Sound Team" for both FC/NES and PS games.

Anyway, if most of the retailers have it for cheap, I won't be able to ward off purchasing!

GoldfishX Sep 4, 2012

They have some samples up. I think I may have found an example of clipping on MM2 Dr. Wily Stage 1. Listen around :40-:41 and you can hear the lead cut out for a brief second. The track doesn't do this on the 1-6 set.

Just doing blind listening, I prefer the sound of the original 1-6 set. They sound livelier. The remastering isn't too bad, based on these samples, but hardly represents an upgrade. I'd love to see a couple waveform comparisons. The crappy Power Fighters Cutsman "arrange" is more tolerable on the original as well.

On the plus side, the two tracks from MM7 sound nice. I think the bass is lower, compared to the SPC sets. No complaints with those.

TerraEpon Sep 4, 2012

The NES music certainly is still in mono at least.

Crash Sep 4, 2012

For those worried about the CDs being stacked, one of the product shots seems to show ten blank CD cases stacked side by side within the E-tank.

Judgment Day Sep 4, 2012 (edited Sep 4, 2012)

Ugh - Remastered huh...? Metal Man's sample sounds like the ROM emulated version, which does not equate to the actual OSV.

Zane Sep 5, 2012

E-Tanks, but no E-Tanks. There's not enough here worth my hard-earned bolts for me to double-dip.

James O Oct 2, 2012

This reminds me that the only Mega Man soundtracks I love are 2 and 3.  that is all.
