"The new game will let players customize their Mii avatars, which will then communicate with Miis made by other players. It's not clear how the game will actually play, however. It'll be free to download with character add-ons available as in-app purchases."

I see... so uh, is this like a college project or something neutral
Somehow I just expected something a little more... fun. Mario? Zelda? Then again, maybe Mii avatars are considered fun these days??

edit: I should add that I don't play games on my phone, so I suppose I'm not a good person to talk about these things. However, if Nintendo was hoping to get me excited about a smart phone game, then I would say they have failed.

I can see something like Animal Crossing, Brain Age or Nintendogs working great on a phone. Hopefully these Mii avatars offer more gameplay than they do on the Wii U menu...

Another brilliant move by Nintendo. Why make a shit-ton of money on a bite-sized Mario game or a Yoshi based match-three when you can develop a pile of crap like this? Can't wait to not download this ever.

They basically said from the very beginning that their mobile stuff was going to be supplementary to expand their brands and be used as a trojan horse to get those users interested in their actual hardware.  Whether that's a good strategy or not remains to be seen, but I can't believe anyone's surprised by this.
