Konami is making (or I guess has already made?) a pachislot game based on Castlevania III (specifically, the Curse of Darkness style of interpreting CVIII). Pachislot games are basically just a kind of arcade redemption (token) game, no real "gameplay" other starting the slot machine rolling and then stopping the reels one by one. Plenty of new FMV, though, and who knows, IGA might even make it canon.

(there's quite a few games in this nature....there's a Fist of the North Star one that I think had the first animation based on the series in like ten years, and so on. There was a recent Chun-li based one, too. Sometimes they even get home ports)

this article should clear things up: http://www.thestandard.com.hk/stdn/std/ … 8Dh01.html

So, yeah, we might be looking at some remixes, possibly new tunes by a Konami composer, but don't get too excited.

EDIT: on the one hand, it looks like it features "A Toccata into Blood Soaked Darkness", which is one of my favorite boss themes from the series. On the other hand, the game seems to feature St. Germain sad

The slot machine manufacturers are just licensing bigger games brands to attract younger folks who already love those franchises.   That strategy works, because as a Castlevania fan, you're now interested in it.

And there's already been Pachislot OSTs for Resident Evil, Sengoku Musou, Beatmania, etc...  http://vgmdb.net/search?q=pachislot

Ugh, this album sucks. There are some good tracks, but those are all from earlier soundtracks. Most of the new stuff is comprised of 30 - 40 second interludes. There are some nice new ideas, but the short tracks make the CD unlistenable (at least for me). Konami is slipping further down the slippery slope of suckiness with this release, I'm really glad that I didn't shell out any money for it (arrr!).

Thanks for pointing that out; I almost shelled out for this one, without actually looking at the track times.

It really is, essentially, just a compilation of jingles...with a few long, 3-5 minute tracks here-and-there.

Bleh.
