OneUps Volume 2 has recently been released by U.S. fan-based cover group, The OneUps. Unlike other indie game music outfits, The OneUps play jazz and they do it damn well (all pro-level musicians here).

On September 2nd, they released their second album, two discs, packed full of fun arrangements from [mostly] Nintendo games done up in funky jazz-fusion style arranges -- and many will satisfy.

Most of you ought to check it out. I highly recommend it for everyone but especially fans who simply can't get enough jazz (and especially sax).

The OneUps' rendition of Zelda LttP's "Time of the Falling Rain" is an instant favorite.

I love the album.  Two discs of awesome arrangements, and I'm really excited that they did "Funky Goblin" from King Arthur's World which is one of the best games on the Super Nintendo.  Also "Boomer Kuwanger" from Mega Man X is amazing... Underground BGM from Mario 2.  African Mines from Ducktales... it's all good.

That's one heck of a tracklist.

Their first album, as well as their music in general, is VERY high quality, absolute top notch!
I'm looking forward to this one.

I guess my only complaint about the album is that Anthony Lofton on sax uses a tenor which ought to sound more rich and buzzy as they sound by nature and it ends up sounding a little flat, though only on some tracks. Perhaps it's the post-production.

The snippet I heard on the site was actually just the Opening Theme.  They are the same song, but the Opening theme is extended while "Time of the Falling Rain" just loops the beginning of the Opening Theme.

EDIT: Will have to sift through all this new material to see if anything tops my fav OneUps arrangement of all time - Koopa Beach!

Yeah, that's a really good one, but my favorite has always been Booster Tower.
Pretty long at 6 minutes, but I can't get enough of it.

If you want to hear something really awesome, check out the last track of disc 1 on OneUps2. It's an amazing, guitar-solo (maybe guitar-duet?) version of Castlevania 3's "Prelude." I can't get enough of it.

I was just doing a search for OneUps Volume 2 FLAC and lo and behold this thread comes up.

I was late to the party listening to most of the OneUps' stuff but recently caught up on all of it on Spotify. Among their eight studio albums Volume 2 is my favorite. FFVI "Terra", Super Metroid "Brinstar", Chrono Trigger "Chrono Trigger", and possibly my favorite theme from the NES era, Castlevania II Simon's Quest "The Silence of the Daylight". Good stuff.
