As many of you know, this came out a few days ago for Xbone and PC. I'm a little over halfway through the PC version, and it's fantastic. If you like Metroivania-style games, you should be all over this. In addition to having the most beautiful in-game art I've seen since Okami and Legend of Mana, the gameplay is incredibly tight, and the low-key music has some light shades of Legend of Mana. Some of the sections of the game are a little on the cheap side in terms of difficulty, but you can create your own save points anytime you want as long as you have enough energy (except for the very beginning of the game, you almost always will). Highly recommended.

REALLY want to play this game, but I don't think my poor PC can handle it, and I don't want to buy an XB1 just for this. It looks fantastic.

I "tried" the game (IYKWIM) and though my graphics card has half the supposed minimum memory and who knows how much lower 'number' it does run the game fine.....at 768x432 resolution (there's no other graphics options). (also granted I have a pretty good processor)

Just finished the game. Really loved it, but it's annoying that you can't go back for the collectibles you missed once you complete it. Hopefully they'll release an update to fix that part. Either way, this is my first GOTY contender. Great game!

Yeah I saw that on a review -- I guess it deletes your save? It seems especially odd given you manually save, there's not even a save 'point'.

It doesn't delete your save, but when you beat the game, your save files gets marked as completed and can't be loaded. Before you enter the last dungeon you can make a copy of your save file in the menu screen, but even that doesn't matter too much because the area of the game where you're most likely to miss something (the 2nd dungeon) becomes inaccessible after you beat it anyway.

Really want to play this game! I think it's the ONLY Xbox exclusive game I want to play, so obviously I'm not going to purchase a system just for the game... but I hope it eventually gets released on PS4.

Well the game is published by Microsoft, so unless Sony buys them in the near future, your options are pretty much Xbox One or PC.  Definitely looks amazing, though, and someday if/when I end up with an xbone I'll be picking it up for sure (or if I have a PC that can run it).

It's easily one of my favorite games in recent times.

In this case the 'Definative edition' is similar to Guacamelee! -- new levels integrated into the map and new abilities. Plus fixing the issue of being unable to explore in some areas after you complete them (or indeed the whole game), as well as a warp system.

$20 sounds fine to me. Especially for a "great" game. Like you though, I want a DRM-free version, which is why I would opt for a console version. Most PC games today are ridiculous with all their DRM.

There's no DRM beyond normal Steam DRM.
Never understood why some people get so up in arms over it.
Especially since technically most consoles effectively have it too and always have.
Yeah some DRM is hideous shit, but Steam's is pretty benign.

To be fair, I have played many PC games with some form of DRM. For example, in Divine Divinity if you pirated the game, it would often purposely crash on you (how it knows you pirated it, I'm not sure
I don't mind DRM like that, but as the Witcher 3 developer noted, very draconian DRM just makes it painful for legal owners. I want to be able to plop in my legally purchased copy and play it on a computer/console without having to go online. Is that too much to ask?

I know they say DRM will always be cracked (and in most cases will) but haven't pirates been having a lot of trouble cracking games lately?

I recall seeing stories that many pirates were having problems cracking Denuvo (sp) which is used by games like Just Cause 3.

I don't think the issue is having "better" DRM, but how difficult is it for someone that legitimately purchases the product? If there's a game I really want (and there have been many   but there's obnoxious DRM and you have to install some software (think Ubisoft) to verify your legitimacy online, then screw that! I just won't purchase the product. So, I no longer purchase any Might and Magic games despite that it's one of my favorite series because Ubisoft's DRM has basically ruined the experience. Oh, and I *did* once upon a time download their installer for a game I did legally purchase, and it did NOT work! After that, I no longer purchase any of their PC games.

Having the game on a console IS a form of DRM, in that you can only play the game on THAT individual console unit. Imagine when that specific, individual console craps out, you lose your games, and the money you paid for them, unless you have an account through PSN or XBLA that would allow you to reincarnate your collection to another console, but that'd have to allow you to do that specifically, and I don't know if they do, or not. Sony would probably be a dick about it, anyway. "Just buy the games all over again! You're made of money, right?"

PlayStation Network purchases are tied to your account, not your console, so if your console craps out, you can just download everything again on a new console. Pretty sure MS works the same way.
It's only Nintendo consoles that screw you over, and it looks like Nintendo is finally starting to learn, since they finally introduced a unified My Nintendo account, so I expect them to turn this around for the NX.

For people like me who purchase physical copies of games, we do not have to worry about all that nonsense
Of course it stinks if your console breaks, but at least you'll have your software when you get a new console. Or, if you wanted to sell/trade/give away your games, you can do that!

The Definitive Edition was (finally!) released on PC on Wednesday. Game is every bit as good as it was the first time through (and still challenging). The new stuff is great too. Only $5 for those who own it already.

Looks like the PC version of this is actually getting a physical release.  I came across it last night on Amazon, but the listing now seems to be gone.  Wondering if I actually dreamt it, a quick Google search reveals a neogaf thread in which someone else found it and screen capped the limited edition version:

Yay for the availability of a CD.  I'm a little annoyed by how game soundtrack releases keep getting released on ONLY digital and VINYL with no CD option as of late.  >:(

So with Black Friday deals I finally sprung for an Xbox One (hooray for being 100% current on consoles again - always takes until about halfway into a generation for me...)!  That means it was time for me to check this little game out, and OH MAN AM I GLAD I DID.  Absolutely gorgeous art, super tight gameplay, stunning music... it's pretty much everything that everyone said it would be.  100%-ing the game took about 11 hours without using any kind of internet help (love games where they make it impossible to miss things - GRR MOST RPGS I'M LOOKING AT YOU).  I played the Definitive Edition, which I understand added warping; without that, I think trying to track down all of the items I'd missed at the end would have been a much bigger pain and more of a time sink, so I'm glad I played that version.  Plus extra areas - woo!

Also it's worth noting that I picked up the XB1 physical edition of the game which does come with a music CD.  Easily worth the $15 I paid for the whole package just for that alone.  Have had the CD in the kitchen CD player all through the holidays while doing all of the cooking and baking and am seriously not tired of it at ALL.  Great stuff, all around!

Heh I don't have the xbone (PS4 though), but I bought the definitive edition for the soundtrack as well.

Wait, what? I had no idea they made a physical soundtrack for this. Will definitely be buying again for the CD! Thanks!
