I thought this might be an interesting idea.
1) Pick a band/artist/composer and fill up a CD (or multiple CDs) with what you consider that act's greatest hits.
2) Remember CD's can hold up to eighty minutes of music apiece.
3) You can use radio edits as you see fit; but honestly I don't use radio edits unless I find the radio edit better. Do make note of edits for others however.
4) You may want to stick to artists where you're familiar with a good chunk of their work.
5) If you don't or can't include something but want to give it a nod do it at the end.
For example:
John's Cranberries Mix (1992-1999)
-From "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?" 1992/1993-
1. I Still Do (3:17)
2. Sunday (3:31)
3. Pretty (2:16)
4. Waltzing Back (3:38)
5. Not Sorry (4:20)
6. Wanted (2;08)
7. Still Can't... (3:40)
8. I Will Always (2:42)
9. How (2;52)
10. Put Me Down (3:32)
-From "No Need to Argue" 1994-
11. Ode to My Family (4:31)
12. I Can't Be With You (3:08)
13. Zombie (5:06)
14. The Icicle Melts (2:54)
15. Disappointment (4:15)
16. Ridiculous Thoughts (4:31)
- From "To the Faithful Departed" 1996-
17. Free To Decide (4:27)
18. Salvation (2:24)
19. When You´re Gone (4:56)
-From "Bury the Hatchet" 1999-
20. Animal Instinct (3:34) *Top Favorite*
21. Just My Imagination (3:43)
***Honorable Mentions***
"Linger" and "Dreams" from Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?"; these tracks would be included if there was enough space, but they were kind of overplayed when the album came out since they were the main singles. I like them but the get the short end of the stick because of the exposure they got.
***Notes***
- Yes, I realize I included 10 of the 12 songs on the debut album. It just had to be done, the debut is amazing.
- The band released more music beyond 1999's Bury the Hatchet but I didn't find anything I really liked beyond this point so my compilation only spans 1992-1999.
