It's only three days left until the PLAY! concert in Stockholm. This thread is for all things related to this concert. Here's a wrap-up:

Four composers will attend the concert: Nobuo Uematsu, Chris Huelsbeck, Gustaf Grefberg and Joel Eriksson. Grefberg is the composer of the music to The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and Eriksson has composed the Battlefield 1942 music. Nobuo Uematsu is in Stockholm already! He will talk about his music in a seminar today (www.underscore.nu).

The Swedish band Powerplay will perform classic tunes from Nintendo games one hour prior to the concert.

Two exclusives for the Stockholm concert are The Chronicles of Riddick and Apidya.

We travelled all the way to Stockholm to see Play! -concert there. As you probably know, Mr. Uematsu was there also and all this was just the begin of our fantasy to come true. After the concert there was a VIP meeting arranget but we of course did not have any idea how would we get there and of course we didn't. After the concert we ended up waiting Mr. Uematsu outside the concerthall and after many hours of waiting one gentle orchestra player came and asked what we were waiting there. We told her that we would be very honoured to meet Mr. Uematsu and we were just trying our luck here. Well, this lady went back inside and after a while she came back with Mr. Uematsu and his wife. Mr. Uematsu talked with us for some time, took a picture with us, gave us signatures and even some Smile Please releated presents. We still can't even understand how all of this was possible but maybe we will someday. Nobue Uematsu came all the way outside just for us and he was sorry 'cause we had to wait for him. Well, here's the picture for you to see. It's better way to show how we felt 'cause I can't actually describe this with any words. Amazing!

Very Nice, I'm glad that PLAY's Euro stop seems to have been just as enjoyable as the Chicago debut.

I heard mention of Chris Huelsbeck (Turrican) having an encore song also?

I'm surprised that percussionist Ronny was there doing his part again in the Chrono Suite, so they must have made him a regular part of the tour for all the stops!

Just checked on Youtube and there's new videos from the Stockholm performance up there for sampling enjoyment!

Get your tickets for the other stops if you haven't experienced this in person yet!!

(same guy has short clips of One Winged Angel, the composers, and Theme of Laura)

Edit: Hmm, they showed different SH2 game footage clips during Theme of Laura than what they showed at Chicago.. also the song is quite different minus Yamaoka's roaring guitar)

Not sure about that, as he was announced for Stockholm quite early (even before Chicago):

I heard that SH2 really was different... Akira Yamaoka spoiled the whole thing for upcoming shows. They better get a very good performer for the future!
Regarding the clips: makes sense to me. If you have Akira Yamaoka on stage you hardly want to show video clips all the time, you want to show the MAN!

Also, Barak's official homepage lists only Chicago and Stockholm.

Ahh, thanks you both for the extra clarification

Wow. Cool.
I did the same way when waiting for another composer.
So, Nobuo's English is good, then if you talked to him?

Thanks for the update on the Stockholm concert!  So there were three Soundtrack Central attendees in Stockholm?  Did you guys meet up before or after the show?  Music4Games ran a story (http://www.music4games.net/News_Display.aspx?id=327), but I'd rather hear about it from you guys.  Anyone take pictures?

By the way, EA is apparently Rony Barrak's sponsor for Play!  He was only announced for Chicago and Stockholm, so I wonder if they'll just skip the big percussion solo from Battlefield for future concerts.  That would change things a lot like not having Akira Yamaoka for Silent Hill, so who knows.

Oh, and Uematsu does understand at least a little English, but appears to need a translator for most things.  Perhaps he speaks Swedish or Aikman speaks Japanese?  : )

There were actually quite a lot more people who visit STC regularly at the concert. Aki, me and some others (eg. Jousto, Sami, Henri K and ckain) from the Finnish game music page ZNS met with the people behind Swedish Spelmusik.net. Nothing special though, we just hung around and talked for a bit after the show. Still, it was nice to see the real life persons behind the familiar usernames. And thanks again, Johan!

No, Uematsu spoke English quite well - at least in that situation with us. He had to throw in some Japanese from time to time before switching to English, though, but we were surprised nevertheless.
