Like some others that post here (e.g. Goldfish) I like European Power Metal. Yes, it's very cheeky music but I've been comfortable with the ingrained layer of cheese since day one.

Anyway, I've been working on my collection of CDs and every once in a while I need to import the Japanese pressing because it has a dope bonus track. As you can imagine YouTube has been a HUGE help in helping me know if the extra track(s) are worth shelling out for, but I've been having kind of a problem with the one seller I typically buy off of on eBay.

In all honestly if I could avoid buying off this guy I would, but he usually has what I'm looking for and has the best prices. As for what he's doing,..

The guy lists shipping at $3 in the item listing, but in actuality the shipping is $8. On the item page he says "wait for an invoice after buying" however, I do not for the life of me know how buy an item without having to immediately pay for it. Maybe this is due to the way I have my account set up, but I have to pay for the item or else it doesn't become an order. If I had paypal Credit or another payment option would this be different? Is there a way to buy something and not pay for it and wait for an invoice? Am I missing it?

Additionally, I know you can't request a total from a seller unless you're buying two or more items, but even in the case were I was going to buy two albums I couldn't get that option to open up.

Anyway, I'm not trying to be annoying but the guy get's bent out of shape when I pay for an item and then has to send me a request for the remaining $5. I don't really understand what's so hard about having the shipping set up on the page correctly in the first place. The $8 shipping from China's fine, I'm just sick of going through the theatrics every-time.

Again, if there's a way to wait for an invoice and someone can tell me I'll gladly start doing it that way. Again, I understand not wanting to make it two transactions. However, is it possible this is a ploy to force two transactions? The second transaction may not be privy to the same fees as the main transaction, so could it be a "I'm going to scold you for doing this so i look like I'm being proactive against this, but in reality this is what I want you to do."

I don't see why he couldn't fix his listings.  I'm inclined to believe he's trying to dodge fees somewhere along the line.

I might know and have bought from this seller in the past. If it's a seller out of Japan, I can confirm this person falsely lists three "in-stock" of every item then makes the buyer wait a week to confirm the order (to check with their distributors).

A few sellers in Asia (namely HK/China and Japan) were doing this rampantly last year and many have since cleaned up their acts on this listing the exact shipping prices.

Both dishonest, crummy practices and eBay couldn't give two f*cks as long as you found their loophole.

This shouldn't be permitted anymore by any means since eBay now lets you set your own price for shipping and let the buyer decide if they want to pay it. I'm guessing the seller is doing whatever to entice buyers until the seller finds out where they're from/shipping costs vary.

I knew that eBay once had a stranglehold on what a seller could charge for shipping costs but yeah, I thought this was reversed long ago.

Additionally, you're right, I've bought off many other people in other countries who have the shipping set up correctly. I'm guessing the guy I'm talking about doesn't want to do anything about it because he'd have to fix like a million listings.
