Time for a little Metal...

Mouth of the Architect

So I heard about these guys through a review site and picked up their latest album on an impulse buy. And I am so glad I did. This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I love... slow pounding post-metal. When I first popped in the disc and heard the vocals kick in on opening track Quietly I had do a double take, because I could have sworn I was listening to Klas Rydberg.

Seriously, if you are a fan of Cult of Luna give these guys a listen. If their backlog turns out to be of the same calibur as this album, I'm sold. *Runs to record store*

5/5

I'll post a track or two when I get the chance.

The instrumentals are good but I don't really like the vocals.  I like some heavy stuff and some hardcore stuff but I don't like growling, which is why I don't like a lot of metal at all.  The closest I get is stuff like Unearth or August Burns Red, and those are more speed metal / hardcore.

The background instrumentals in Mouth of the Architect are really good, it's very post-rock like, which is probably why they're called post-metal.  I really like post-rock, the genre as a whole.  This stuff would be a lot better without the vocals imo.  If you like the instrumentation, check out Explosions in the Sky, Pelican, Caspian, Red Sparrowes, 65daysofstatic, Jesu.
