Genre: Action Adventure

Capcom announced an original third person action game at Gamescom called Remember Me, developed by Dontnod Entertainment in Paris. The story takes place in 2084, you play as Nilin, an ex-elite memory hunter who can alter and steal people's memories. Due to fears of her capabilities, the authorities captured and erased her memory, but somehow she managed to escape from prison; now she's been hunted by the surveillance society she once served. Nilin can use martial arts to combat, and use a new gameplay mechanic Memory Remix to alter people's memories in real-time. Remember Me will arrive on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in May 2013.

I was just talking about mind control and altering memory yesterday too. This stuff is pretty far out -- You can make people kill themselves. The mindcontrol mechanics are confusing as it required two actions to trigger the mission complete status when the first action triggered mission failed. It's like the Butterfly Effect videogame but controlling other people. While it looks like the game will only let you trigger one alteration of reality (the ones that complete the mission) hopefully next gen there will be a real rpg experience where thousands of outcomes are experienced and saved as you continue throughout the game world.

Game looks pretty cool, but very linear since the demo only seemed to allow one possible solution. It's definitely on my radar for next year though.

Just a game, or "soon" to be reality?

The researchers have no plans to manipulate human memory using a similar technique in people.

"Ethically, one should not even pursue that," Tonegawa said.

Unfortunately, humanity as a whole seems to have serious issues with ethics.
