One of my double CD albums has a broken piece on the middle tray.  As a result, the tray doesn't swing in place as it should - rather, it falls out of the album case when turned upside down.

Unfortunately, the case for this album is not generic (think one of the Enterbrain cases), and so I'd like to try repairing it.  I do have the broken piece in full, and I think my best chance is to glue it back on (e.g. with Crazy glue, a hot glue gun, or the like).  Unfortunately, the piece is quite small, and so there isn't much surface area for an adhesive to hold...

Has any one here had any success stories (or lack-of-success stories) that they might share about this sort of thing?  I suspect my odds of success are pretty slim, but I wanted to ask nonetheless.

Ugh. This reminds me of when I ordered a copy of Dracula X Collection OST and it came in the mail busted.

Unique case and I was screwed.

I ended up selling it on eBay for a rather discounted price... but I was honest about the damage from the get go.

I really wish there was a store online actually selling some of these unique cases...  I have a few that need replacing unfortunately... and by these I mean any of the various unique multi-cd cases.  You could check bagsunlimited just in case I suppose though.

To be honest, after making purchases on YJA and getting less-than-perfect items (e.g. damaged obi, digipak with broken teeth, etc.), I've generally had no trouble recouping my full cost on eBay, even with full disclosure of the underlying damage.  I suspect the same would apply for the item I'm talking about here.

That said, in this case, the damage *seems* so minor - it just being an internal piece of plastic - that I'd rather repair it than buy a double.  If the repair would actually hold, that is.

What is it that's unique about this case, can you describe it or provide a photo? Does it have '2D' or '2DW' embossed at the top and bottom?

Lacking a steady hand, I've never had much luck repairing damaged hinges on jewel cases and usually just replace where possible.

The case is a colored plastic, rather than the usual clear plastic.

Ahh, like those Enterbrain cases... I see. Ouch, that is bad luck. Sounds like a spot of very strong superglue, and a way of keeping the parts still while it sets, would be worth the attempt.

I had a sealed Majora's Mask Orchestrations I ended up selling cheap because the outer case arrived cracked... yeah, your only chance is to attempt it or else do what I did =\

If the artwork and discs are intact does the jewel case truly matter? Maybe I'm more tolerant of case damage (shelf wear scuffing/scratching, case stress cracks, etc) because I see it so often.
