Since we're talking about death in the media, i thought i'd post this.

I found this video today (it's not that graphic because it's in black-and-white silhouette-vision) and the thing that struck me was how similar it looks compared to when you decapitate a zombie in the original three Resident Evil games for ps1.
Remember how the bits of zombie-head that go flying through the air seemed to 'melt away' after they hit the ground? Well, watch the video and it looks almost exactly the same..

It reminds me of Call of Duty 4.

That honestly disturbs me way more than a close-up color photograph of a dead guy's feet sticking out of the ice.

I think what disturbs me most is that we just saw a man off himself, and the first correlation we make is to a video game. It bothers me, but I cannot articulate why. sad

I wonder what that guy did to make a face full of shot preferable to jail time.

This reminds me of something I heard nearly every time I went to the gym as a teenager. The guy behind the desk would always say, "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do."

Other than eat, drink, sleep, find companionship of sorts, find warmth and shelter... I don't think there's much a man has to do to survive. Certainly there's no reason to run about with a shotgun... or any gun really! Unless of course you're going to 2nd grade. It makes for a nice show and tell...

I was thinking about this while at work today and I recalled this Korean movie: Peppermint Candy. In my opinion, every suicide can be explained, provided one could backtrack and observe the events leading to the suicide. I would doubt that most of them are snap decisions or based on very recent events; they are more likely related to a cascade of events over many years that lead to downfall (the familiar downward spiral). In reality, we can probably not solve every suicide, since most people don't write down everything that happens. However, the movie Peppermint Candy does a good job of showing one such cascade of negative events.

Because video games are so full of blood and death nowadays and with the graphic capability of the new systems and all..

Heh.

Need armed guards to back up the metal detector, just in case the person comes in Matrix style...then again, if a kid was Matrix style enough, they could just steal the guns from the armed guards themselves, anyway...there is no foolproof plan (and there's no spoon, either!)

Then again, this's children we're talking about, here...they're kind of...half-cocked! (Yes, that's s'posed to be a gun pun).

...

In all seriousness though, the gun could've just as easily been planted in the child's desk. Run that thing through forensics...then again, fingerprints can just as easily be planted, too, as The Bourne Supremacy illustrated...

Can't take everything you read at face value...

It depends on whether the person prefers spending 25+ years of staring at blank concrete walls all day or just pulling a trigger and going to sleep for awhile..

Some like it hot, some like it cold.

..It all comes down to the individual's personal preferences, i suppose.
