Ryu Umemoto - I don't even know if this guy's music is supposed to be game soundtracks, so more information would definitely be appreciated - but is his music awesome?

Samples are available for each of those albums at the publisher's website.

Oldschool Chiptune is about the best way to describe it.  His style is to make longer tracks that progress and build up slowly though, so the "good parts" of the tracks are usually near the end.

Desire is similar to Policenauts or Snatcher as far as the MOOD of the album goes.
Xenon is more atmospheric, slow spacey stuff.

Oh, and please use vgmdb to look up album info, it's helpful and you learn things there.

EVE Burst Error? Did Umemoto do most of it, or is that album new, previously-unpublished stuff?

Have to admit I'm half-and-half on the oldschool chiptune aspect, but, I still listen to good 'ol 8-Bit Megaman music, so I'll give it a chance.

Stuff's actually pretty melodic, and if not melodic, still catchy, somehow.

Albums are damn expensive, though.

P.S. Had a dream about the Psyvariar Mix album graphic some night ago...I think my brain is trying to tell me it wants it...first time I've actually been given a "BUY ME" message from my brain before...

He did the PC-98 version with Ryu Takami (and a bunch of other PC-98 scores, some alone and some with Takami).
The Windows version that got translated to english had SC-55 arranges, done probably by Kazuhiro Kanae. Not as good as the FM synth version, of course, but still not bad.
