Hey All, I'm selling a great chunk of my collection. I have some quite valuable pieces. Some have already sold, but I thought I would let people take a look.

http://vgmdb.net/db/marketplace.php?do= … serid=1967

In particular I have quite a bit of rare Western VGM. For example most (although not all) of my World of Warcraft rarities have already sold. However, I still have

Realms of Arkania
Heroes of Might and Magic
Tomb Raider
Grim Fandango

etc.

I also have a bunch of Japanese VGM (but of course) including some rares and non-rares. I don't have everything listed right now. I have yet to add my Final Fantasy music collection (including Mystic Quest), and a ton of others (both Western and Japanese)...  Also, I am selling my Wizardry collection, and some of those are quite rare (and quite awesome)! Will add more as time permits. If no one is interested, I'll probably start putting these on ebay, and maybe I'll sell a few at $400 like Boyblunder (that's my way of saying act now big_smile

Nope, did not forget smile
if interested, we can talk about price. Obviously, some are going to be more than others.

I also have a bunch of Cave CDs

Mushihimesama
Ibara
etc...

If interested let me know. I haven't listed them yet, but will. Oh, and Mystic Quest sold...

with all them Wizardry albums listed I was hoping you'd have the box set as well. Ah well! smile

Apparently a new copy is only $2732.89
So cheap!

That said, I was never impressed with the box set. It only has 6 CDs, one of which is a drama CD, and they can all be purchased individually. Granted, they're rare, but not $2732.89 rare yikes

I think the $300 used could be ... understandable. I mean, We Love Wizardry is part of the set, and that album on its own routinely goes 10,000 yen right?

Condition is important. Save the PM rally by marking what has/hasn't obis. Add prices for most.

I agree with XISMZERO. A seller must either state condition or price. If a buyer has the condition, it is possible to get a price by checking what it sells for in Japanese marketplaces (ebay suffers from too much price padding). If a buyer has the price, then asking about the condition can reveal whether the price is fair or padded.

As an example, when Boyblunder sold Super Mario Land for about $447, that price was DEAD ON. That's about what one can expect to pay on Yahoo Japan for one in similar condition. If Boyblunder's copy had been missing the obi and he asked $447 for it, then the price would've been padded. Without the obi, that album is worth $200 at the most.

One has to be careful when price checking. The only price that matters is the sale price, not the asking price. For example, there are many albums with asking prices of 40,000 yen or more. However, when they start at 1 yen or 1,000 yen, they usually end up selling for less than 20,000 yen. So you have to look at actual sale prices. However, if an album is listed super high, like Galaxy Odyssey, and greatly exceeds the super high start price, then it really is worth that much.

I find that a bit hard to believe, but then again, I don't really collect VGM anymore (despite that I'm on soundtrackcentral a lot)! Still, it seems surprising, to put it mildly, that an obi is worth more than the rest of the soundtrack.

Also, I totally understand that condition and completeness matters (still can't agree that an obi is worth more than the soundtrack though, but that could very well just be me)! As I said, if you see something you want, let me know. I can check the condition etc.

Alone, the obi has little value. It's like a dust cover for a rare book. The dust cover itself isn't worth much, but having it will increase the value of an old hardcover. First editions of Dune have asking prices all the way up to $22,000, for instance. Without the dust cover, that price would drop into the hundreds or less. And we all know a dust cover isn't actually worth the difference, just like an obi isn't.

Another similarity between the obi and the dust cover is they are not necessary. One can read a book without the dust cover, just as one can listen to a CD without the obi. However, they both offer information that is like a "zeitgeist" of sorts. I like looking at the ads on obis, just as I like reading the back of a dust cover, or admiring its artwork. It's just not the same item if it's missing a piece, even if that piece is not required.

Hi All, apologies for not getting back to those of you that have emailed me sooner. Everything that I have for sale is (slowly) going up on vgmdb. So please see my list here:

http://vgmdb.net/db/marketplace.php?do= … serid=1967

Frighteningly enough, I have a ton more CDs to list -so it will take a few more days before everything is up. I also have some "lots" I wish to sell as sets. These include:

Halo
Starcraft
Warcraft
Ys

Note: NO, I do not have Mosaic nor Taverns for sale. Those sold over a year ago and I doubt I will ever see those again (good luck to those searching). However, I have quite a few "rare" CDs that I'm going to put up. In many cases, I'm the only one on vgmdb (or ebay) that has a copy for sale. Probably won't be cheap, but I'm certainly willing to work with people. Feel free to inquire about condition/completeness and ask for pics.

Some good stuff in there.  No prices?

No, email me for prices.

Getting close to listing most of the items, but still quite a few to go hmm
To be fair, it's some 20 years of collecting smile

avatar! Sep 1, 2016 (edited Sep 1, 2016)

OK, I think for the large part, I completed listing what I have for sale.

http://vgmdb.net/db/marketplace.php?do= … serid=1967

It's a substantial amount of CDs, many of which are extremely rare (and quite a few that are not)! Again, it's some 15+ years of collecting yikes

So, if you sent me an email and I never replied, I apologize. I either got too busy (sorry) or your email landed in my spam (happens). So please shoot me another email if you see anything you're interested in. Thanks.
