Man, it's been a long time since I've been on here! How's the game music industry doing right now? And what good VGM has been coming out in say the last 6 months?

I was at the game music concert that Tommy Tallarico was in charge of in October last year in Birmingham. It was great! It was also fantastic seeing a gaming celeb, too!

Hey there, it has been awhile. Cheers.

Things are weird lately, as most of the more interesting releases have been re-releases or videogame pack-ins.
Street Fighter 4 had some nice things said about it when it hit, and Blazblue was very good indeed. There's apparently a SaGa anthology set coming, a Contra 4 arrange album too, and Angela's done some gamerips from Punch-Out on Wii, but things are tame lately.

Not much on my radar. I think the Biohazard 5 OST is great, as is Hibino and GEM Impact's Ninja Blade OST, but aside from those two and the Napple Tale re-releases there hasn't been much worth typing about this year on my end. I'm holding out for the Metroid Metal studio album and the eventual FFXIII OST.

Edit: I forgot about Ridge Racer 6. Whoops!

Tommy Tallarico is no longer a celebrity here, in the year of our Lord, 2009.

Welcome back, to the future.

We'll hope you enjoy your stay here!

I will definitely check out SFIV and RR6.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like VGM in general is selling for much less these days (specifically used CD's). But then again, this could be because of the current state of the economy. Is there less demand? Less devoted gamers? Or something else?

As far as electronic VGM out there, what's good right now?

In terms of electronica, I'm particularly fond of the DoDonPachi Dai-Fukkatsu series and the recent Cave arrange albums for Death Smiles and Ketsui. On Saturday, a DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou arrange album is being released. Each one features a plethora of artists and are mostly electronica focused.

Also, the Street Fighter IV soundtrack is amazing in terms of electronica. Lots of electronica blended with classic instruments!

Let's Tap is also a lot of fun. A short CD though. Only 45 minutes, but it's pretty much all quality!

And don't forget the soundtrack to SHATTER!
