Sonic the Hedgehog (360/PS3 OST): http://www.vgmworld.com/catalog/index.p … m_num=1145

Sonic, Seven Rings in Hand: http://www.vgmworld.com/catalog/index.p … m_num=1161

My question out to yous out there, is there any out there who liked these, and can give me a heads-up on what to expect? Anyone know where I can listen to samples?

I always thought it was strange, first was the Sonic the Hedgehog release on 360 and PS3 (which I hear was a lousy game), and then there was the release of Sonic and the Seven Rings for Wii closely after. What gives? Wii got the good Sonic game, and everyone all said forget that previous release?

I liked the Sonic PS3 OST...Really cool mix of rock themes and electronic ones (basically from the same staff as the PSO games). A good bit of cutscene music, but the level/boss themes are pretty topnotch.

I'd advise staying away from the Seven Rings OST's. It's pure trash, even for an 80's nut like myself. Every review of the game you've read that mentions how bad the music is is dead-on.

I agree, Sonic PS3 OST is pretty good.  Even without Jun Senoue's heavy influence, Mariko Nanba and Tomoya Ootani pull it together with some fantastic stage themes.  Hideaki Kobayashi's tracks are, as usual, touch and go for me, but a solid OST overall though.  And I gotta say, the main theme "His World" kicks total ass for a change.

Well, I'm glad to report the Sonic PS3/XBox soundtrack is teh awexome. Well, the stage themes were, anyway. "Solaris (Phase Two)" is definitely my favorite reprisal of the game's main theme.

Takahito Eguchi, however, only composed about three pieces.

I was wonder where all the orchestral work was hiding besides the cinematic themes: the boss themes.

I, for the most part, threw out most of the cinematic themes, about 45 minutes worth; I only kept two of the opening cinematic themes, and the string of five ending themes. Otherwise, the rest proved to be too much for me to sift through, and most were reprisals of each other anyway, besides being way too short to be worth keeping.

Well of course "His World" rocks!!  It was done by the main guys from Zebrahead.  If you haven't heard of them already, you owe it to yourself to buy their album "MFZB."  There isn't a single bad track on there.

Zebrahead is U.S. or Japanese group?

Sonic Wii, the game, is terrible.  Le Club Bachraf's stuff is all I really enjoyed on the OST.  Sonic PS3/360's soundtrack is great.
