Just a barebones site for now, but it's got a nice violin piece playing.  There's also a link to a 20th anniversary SaGa video chronicling all the SaGa games from SaGa 1 on Gameboy all the way to Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song.

I seem to remember they redid SaGa 1 for the Wonderswan Color but they never did it for a Nintendo platform right?  It'd be cool to get a SaGa 1 - 3 DS port IMO, I'd play those again.  Who knows if this SaGa 2 DS remake will make it here tho.

The former Nitendo president Yamauchi (aka yakuza) was outraged by Square's behavior on that time (not just because they moved into a different console, but supposedly dispraised Nitendo as a whole) and initially didn't let them release games on GBA. So they ended up going for Wonderswan.

(Romancing) SaGa is easily conceived as SE's truer classic than Mana or even Chrono inside me, even music-wise. Ito really shined in the GB and SNES eras (although I have a trouble with revisting all of them).

Man, if they remake Saga 2 in the way they did FF3 and 4, I may have to finally get a replacement DS...

Of course, it'd help if they fixed the issue of depleting weapons that always caused me to have tendency to almost always run and do controlled leveling....but eh.

I wasn't a big fan of FF3 and FF4 DS, so if SaGa 2 does get the treatment, I'm gonna have to turn the other cheek.

But hey, this could place us one step closer to a port of the stellar Romancing SaGa 3.  Make it a straight-up conversion of the Super Famicom to the DS, a la Chrono Trigger.

I have yet to play FF3 DS but I absolutely loved FF4 DS to bits.  I only wish more of the rare equipment made through to the new game plus and they had kept in the extra stuff that was in FF4 Advance.  Chrono Trigger DS while still good wasn't as fresh an experience for me playing it again since it was a straight up port.  The addition of the extra dungeons was ok but they left much to be desired as they didn't really add much of anything to the game IMO.

If SaGa 2 DS makes it here I'll snatch it up.

I'll be mega-angry if Americans DON'T get the SaGa 2 remake. That's one of my favorite GameBoy games ever.

That's pretty much the way most of the Saga games have done it. It's not completely random -- for instance, using a sword would raise atk, getting hit would raise HP, etc.

But that was how it was designed. SaGa is never about grinding. Careful selection of armor/weaponry/skills is a stronger influence on whether you win or lose.

Kindof. Certain fights "spark" more easily than others.

That said, I'd love to see this port. Hopefully this will rekindle the SaGa flame that was almost snuffed out by all the Unlimited SaGa lamers.

Ooh, new soundtrack...SaGa 2 on the Gameboy was definitely my favorite of the first 3 SaGas, in no small part due to the soundtrack.

The SaGa series has always meen a mystery to me.  Sure, I own a bunch of them, but outside of the music and art, I don't particularly like them, so I will certainly be skipping the DS port of SaGa 2 should it be released in America.  Of course, I will readily snap up the OST.

I noticed that the 20th anniversary video leaves out both of the WSC games for some reason.  The PS2 remake of RS1 is included, however.

I was mostly pleased with the choices of staff. I'm hoping Sekito will join Ito to inject some more rock into those battle themes. Pity the exuberance will be limited by the console.

Fixed that for ya wink

I remembering playing SaGa 2 as a teenager and finding it mindnumbingly difficult. I'm surprised I made it to the final boss... but I could never beat it.

I don't necessarily want them to tone down the game... but there's some interface streamlining that could be done.

The music is excellent, one of Ito's best. I always thought he did his best work on the GB, especially with Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken 1). And I still can't figure out why his music sounded neutered when it was upgraded for the GBA remake.
