All this talk of non-related vgm has reminded me of a pretty hard-to-find compilation cd from 1999. It's called 'Other Side of the Moon - Japan/Austrailia Bonus Tracks' by The Cardigans.
I've looked on ebay several times and various other cd-specialty shops, none seeming to have a copy in stock.

I've dedicated the year of 2007 to finding a copy of this severe OoPrint-er.

Any pointers?

Do you specifically want the Australian version? The Japanese edition appears to be relatively common on Yahoo Auctions Japan:

500 yen, no obi (and apparently a few scratches):

1200 yen, w/ obi:

1450 yen, new:

If you use Shopping Mall Japan, it'd probably be another $5 commission + $2.50 bank transfer fee + cost of shipping.

So, what will you spend the rest of 2007 doing now? ^_~

On a related note, "My Favourite Game" rocks.

Thanks for the reply, ShoulderWorm.

The JAPAN ONLY version (1998) of this cd is inferior to the JAPAN/AUSTRALIA version (January 1999) so I'd prefer the latter. My comp can't display the text properly (all I get are little squares/boxes instead), do you happen to see the AUSTRALIA/JAPAN ver. for sale there?

Thanks,

-Shoe

p.s.- yeah, I was tickled too when I saw the opening fmv of Gran Turismo 2 featuring that song, heh

Heh, I think that's the best interpretation I've seen yet.

The tracklists are identical, so is the superiority based on rarity? All of the auctions on YAJ are for the Japanese version, but I did come across these on GEMM:

http://www.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?&a_refno=GML878116186
http://www.musicstack.com/item/178383807/cardigans/   (Same seller as above, but has better ratings on Music Stack).

To complicate matters further, I've seen Hong Kong and Danish editions that have come out even later (2001 and 2003, respectively).

To be honest, the reason I said the AUSTRALIA version was superior was because of this:

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=am … t4bsqf~T21

As you can see, they gave the JAPAN ver. two and a half stars while the JPN/AUSTRAILIA edition got 4 out of 5, leading me to believe that the AUST. version had either more tracks or just a better track selection in general.
But if you say their tracklists are identical, then I'll just go with the JPN version and be done with it.
Do you think I should order it from Gemm or the other place? The MusicStack place said $48 which seems a bit much, but are they more reliable or somethin'?

Again, thank you for your help on this little excursion, Mr. ShoulderLean/ShoulderWorm.

Yup, I'm pretty sure they have the same tracks, as evidenced by this picture compared to the the track listing for the "Jap/Aus" version.

I haven't actually used GEMM or Music Stack, but it seems that they're both just places where individual sellers can list their items for sale. As such, I'd go with whoever has the highest ratings.

The CDs I linked to were supposedly the Jap./Aus. version, but if you're okay with the Japanese version, here's another option I spotted:

His rating is very high, and he claims to have one copy available. If $38.73 is still too pricey, I'd definitely recommend going the Yahoo Auctions Japan route, using Shopping Mall Japan or a similar service (Celga and Crescent Shop have similar fees). If you win the 500 yen auction I linked to before, then add the commission fees and shipping, the total price would probably be around $20, if not lower.

Spoken like a true professional. Thank you very much.
