The reason I like it is because I check it a lot while at work. And there are times when I have to run off and go do something for periods of time. I don't want the posts to be marked as read when I return. Sometimes and I can leave the browser open and sometimes i can't. But basically it all comes down to control. I like to control as many things as possible. I want the threads to be marked as read because I told them they were read. Not because the forums thinks I read them. *shrug*

Yeah, no opening links in seperate windows I think.  Really hate it when web pages do that, especially when I'm using tabbed browsing in Firefox.

If you don't have it already, you should download Tabbrowser preferences. Then you can set links to open in new tabs rather than in new windows, along with lots of other options.

On a tangent: Cool....I just noticed that the forum puts a little dot next to threads that we posted in. I know other board types have a little graphic beside such threads, but it's nice to have a simple, non-graphical mark so that pages load faster (in theory, anyway, heh).

Anyone else having logon problems?  I'm using IE5.5 on W98 and the forum has a tendency to ignore my logon attempts.  For example, I put in my user name and PW, click Login and it just returns me to the forums without logging me in.  This last time, I was able to get in after deleting a few altpop cookies, but the problem seems to pop up randomly.  Adam?

If you don't want to install an extension for it, you can go to Tools --> Options --> Tabs --> Check the box "Force links that open new windows to open in" and select "new tab." That pretty much got everything sorted when I use FF.

In addition to all of BAMAToNE's points, the "marked as read, in time" feature doesn't alway seem to work for me. Every other forum I know of gives users the feature, and I really don't see why it's being withheld. I personally don't use "Today's Posts" but I don't consider it an in-the-way nuisance because it's there, so... why not give users the option?

Hi all! Just wanted to add how happy I am to see the forum sans the stupid drama. I had to leave the old forum because it was difficult to distinguish what were real posts and just annoyances.

Thanks for making STC sorta normal again. If such a term apply to this place. big_smile
