Has anyone checked this game out yet? I've only played the DS version so far, but it apparently mirrors the plot and levels of the next-gen versions. The DS game is your run-of-the-mill side-scroller. It's by all means playable, but nothing extraordinary.

Where the game shines, however, is in the brilliant writing and dialogue. Hit & Run was funny enough, but The Simpsons Game easily beats it in terms of the quality and quantity of one-liners. There are already tons of them in the DS verison, which has only 1/5th of the dialogue of the next-gen versions. I think I laughed more throughout the course of the game than I have during the last 10 or so years of the show combined. Heck, IMO the game is a better experience than the movie.

The numerous video game references prove to be the biggest source of laughter. Sadly, Dash Dingo only makes a very brief appearance near the end of the game, but pretty much all of the other big games of the last 30 years are parodied. I can't even begin to count the number of times I screamed "OMG" upon recognizing a game reference.

The amount of Simpsons references is equally as impressive. From the Land of Chocolate to dogs that shoot bees out of their mouths (my favorite gag in the entire game), long-time Simpsons fans will find lots to laugh about.

Oh, and if all that wasn't enough, there are also cameos by (Huge Spoilers follow!): Bender and Zoidberg. You all still have Zoidberg!(Spoilers end)

I'm amazed this actually looks like it has the potential to be a decent game. And not just "decent for a Simpson's game". Might be worth a rental. The commercial with the health pack was the funniest thing I've seen Simpsons-related in years.

The game is really well produced...but I thought the controls stunk, at least on the demo.  Killing Lard Lad was a pain in the ass.
