Can I ask a question to those who sell on eBay? When someone makes an insultingly low offer on something do you flat out tell them? The people who expect something for nothing...

No, it doesn't solve anything. A simple "too low, bud", will suffice.

I used to teach a mythology class in mexico city,, it took half the semester to convince them that apollo was not the god of chicken...

So I've been taking the Global TESOL course for teaching English. Been having a rough time, but it's satisfying. I've never been great at academics and time hasn't made me any better, but I'm doing my absolute best. I really hope this bears fruit.

It feels good to have my life back on some sort of track regardless, though.

Dude, just come to Japan and you can start teaching English without any kind of credentials whatsoever wink

It's not having the credentials that worries me; the prospect of moving to another country and not having a f---ing clue what I'm doing is what is terrifying. tongue

I have to do a presentation in a different language tomorrow. My options were learn enough Mandarin from my girlfriend to get through it (which simply wasn't going to happen), or dig through my old Filipino contacts and brush up on my Tagalog. Tagalog has the added benefit of using the roman alphabet so I won't have to teach any crazy symbols.

Just heard one of the new Chocobo themes from FFXIII-2, up on Youtube. "Crazy Chocobo." It's as if they merged "Otherworld" and "Eternity" into an unholy horrific two-minutes of shit.

No joke.

Razakin Dec 13, 2011

Sorry guys, Crazy Chocobo is awesome. Just plain awesome. But fun to see haters hate it so badly on different forums.

Idolores Dec 14, 2011

It sounds like something a group of greasy fans would put together on Youtube.

Amazingu Dec 14, 2011

Oh dear.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

And I just bought the game :S

(Who's doing the OST anyway?)

You know, I think I've watched The Big Bang Theory way too much lately, cause I'm starting to notice all sorts of little things. For example:

Sheldon (a theoretical physicist) tells Leonard that if he could afford the rent he would live alone.

Seems simple enough but Penny (a waitress at the cheesecake factory who makes "minimum wage") lives alone in the same building.

Now I'm not saying all the apartments in a single building would cost the same, but you'd think that the pay between a waitress and a theoretical physicist would be pretty wide, right?

Sry, I know I'm overthinking it.

That's a bit too close to the FFX team for comfort...

Definitely not impressed by the choice of music in the game so far.
The game itself, on the other hand, is shaping up nicely.
They really fixed a lot of the problems the original had.

It's mostly Mizuta (a little less than half). The rest is equally Hamauzu and Suzuki. I managed to make it through the first disc and pretty much skimmed everything else. Some of Mizuta's stuff is okay but Hamauzu sounds oddly restrained and a little bored. The less said about Suzuki, the better. The whole thing is a big disappointment.

(I'm hoping the game is decent but FFXIII was... yuck. I know enough to at least turn my brain off during the melodramatic cinematics.)

I've been going through DVDs packed with old mp3's, trying to narrow things down and make a tracklist I can thoroughly enjoy from beginning to end.

In doing this it's amazing to find how much of the stuff I've heard throughout the years that’s completely fallen by the wayside. Bands I had CD's/200+ songs for I can now count the number of must have tracks on my fingers.

Also, it's amazing how many tracks I had that merely had "a cool part or two" in them. Sorry, whole thing has got to be good to make the cut.

But seriously, outside major releases from a few bands and VGM soundtracks I think I'm just going to go with purchasing mp3's anymore. Having the actual disc around has become a lot less important to me recently.

Edit:

I'll post a list of the VGM that made the cut once I'm done.

today while coming out of the Falcon Field post office,, an old lady stopped to look at the shirt i was wearing.. it was my beavis and butthead one where beavis is mimicking Uncle Sam in the US army poster "I want you,, to pull my finger",,, she asked what it read, and i tried to brush it off telling her it was just a crude cartoon. she insisted on reading it,, and 30 seconds later i found myself doing something i never thought i would do... giving a full blown explanation of the "pull my finger" concept to a 75 year old woman...

I'm about 5 and a half hours in and my current opinion is as follows:

- The soundtrack is largely horrible.

- The dialogue still makes me want to kill people, but at least there are less characters talking this time.

- The retarded new Chocobo theme does NOT play when riding a Chocobo, so don't be afraid to get on one.

- Everything else is a HUUUUUUGE improvement over FFXIII. More stuff to do, more choice/freedom, wider areas. It looks like they REALLY listened to the complaints about FFXIII. The game is actually fun and interesting now, believe it or not.

Ashley Winchester Dec 16, 2011

Hahaha, I love how blunt you are sometimes Amazingu. Just reading something like "the soundtrack is largely horrible" puts a smile on my face. I know it's only an opinion but it's so short, sweet and to the point.

So true. It's also a damned shame. The music was one of the few reasons why I kept going through FFXIII. I wanted to hear Hamauzu's amazing music in context. If FFXIII-2 is more fun to play, it shouldn't be too hard to ignore the shitty score.

Ashley Winchester Dec 17, 2011

You know, sifting through all this music I came across "Moon Fight" from the Rondo of Blood remake for the PSP. I like the composition itself but I've never heard an arrangement that does it justice. Has anyone run into something like that? A good underlying composition that has never seemed to get expressed the right way?
