I am deeply disturbed by the attitudes of many users at FFshrine. Some people there expect me to upload albums from my collection, ripped with EAC into FLAC with cue and log, and ask for nothing in return. Why don't I just go out and buy 500 cars and give them away? Some concept.

I greatly, greatly, greatly miss the days of trading cd-r copies through the mail. And selling and buying cd-r copies. That was so fun! I loved getting a stack of discs with shitty handwriting. I thought it was awesome. And I loved all the people that bought discs from me; they were very supportive and I made a lot of people happy.

So many people just don't understand how impossible this music can be to acquire. The flippancy with which the users at FFshrine make demands is what makes me want to crack some skulls. If you want me to upload an album per your specifications, then you should damn well pay for it. But those people disagree! They're totally fucked up! I just don't understand how anyone can not be aware that if I do something for you, then you do something for me. Quid Pro Quo. It's a basic social mechanism that has served our race for thousands of years, but there are people actively attempting to undo that. It's not a tradition. It's not religion. It's a basic property of human interaction, like returning a smile.

And another thing. I've been able to determine that log files somehow "prove" the rip is genuine. But why on Earth would I need to make a log if I have the actual disc? I don't need to prove anything to myself, since I have the disc! And furthermore, I don't give two-thirds of half a f--- if someone doesn't believe my rips are genuine. And furthermore again, I'm not going to guarantee something unless you pay for it! Some of the people at FFshrine must go to work, not get paid, and be happy with it.

Now, there are some reasonable users at FFshrine. I received several pleasant emails of gratitude. Those people clearly understood how much trouble I went through.

I swear to you: I cannot understand the mindset of the sharing community. It is totally baffling. The trading community makes perfect sense, though.

and often bonus discs thrown in that you'd never heard of because cause the other trader was like "you hafta frickin' listen to this!!" (and there was no youtube for previewing)
in the oddest shipment, dragon god included a place-mat and cherry flavored chocolates,, thankfully, this was before his spider days or i might've received an egg sac

if you rip hard enough to produce a log, it's probably not something you want to post about online..

Now wouldn't that be something ? wink But no, if I ever get around to breeding at least one species (I'm really fond of the Mexican Redknee since it's the all time classic pet tarantula) I'd probably give away a spiderling or two, but not an entire eggsac. There is some money to make out of it. Plus more people need to be introduced to these amazing creatures.

On topic, I recall having done a trade with some folks on here that got me some CD-Rs with some neat and obscure soundtracks. Sadly, these days are long gone. But I've saved the absolute best. And Mike, it was a lot of fun buying all those obscure Square soundtracks from you when I was trying to complete my collection nearly a decade ago. Good times !

When I was in high school, my cross country coach told us a story about a runner from another school that had a turd sliding down his leg during a race.

Last week I placed my first order with CDJapan in six years. Wow, that time had flown. Registered with them in 2001 when Backtrip stopped taking orders.

Anyway, after coming back after six years I expected a fanfare, parade, maybe fireworks. But no. No fireworks for me.

Apparently, it's considered sexist to go to a bar counter, and ask the bartendress (female bartender) for a glass of milk.

Oh, I'll return you a smile, alright; here's your smile back, I don't want it! big_smile

Card battles are still not bad-ass. Why do we still have this shenaniganry going on? I thought it went out of style after Pokemon...oddly enough, I can't help thinking that Pokemon has gone out of style more than Final Fantasy...

Apparently, the Japanese version of the men's magazine called Playboy is known as Play Geisha in Japan. Or maybe it's Playful Geisha. Still trying to learn how to read Kanji.

Nope. Trying to imitate Longhairmike-san.

Feminism means women just get into men's pants a different way: By actually putting on pants themselves, instead of dresses and skirts. Y'know, 'cuz, the head-of-the-household (the husband and father) used to be referred to figuratively as "The one who wears the pants."

Finally figured out an end-all be-all solution for the world's current energy crisis: Humans have to evolve night vision. Think about it. We wouldn't need so much electricity if we could just see in the dark! big_smile

P.S. The contents of my fridge at my time of death have been willed out to whoever discovers them first/wants them after finding me upon my untimely demise.

I've been thinking lately since there was something that bothered me about your posts and I have finally figured it out.

You're Bernhardt, aren't you?

So I wasn't the only one who has been thinking this? Been thinking this for awhile but I was afraid to say anything.

Giveaways were the "listen to [X] VGM during specific season" in the BeerSQ thread, the moral/female perception posts, the wording of the posts (go back and compare), and the almost simultaneous marketplace activity on VGMdb by Bernhardt when Dart started posting regularly.

Haha, interesting to see I'm not the only who noticed.

The moral/female perception thing is definitely a big reason as are the ways his posts are constructed (such as the [...] to separate bits of text. I've never seen anyone else do that, like EVER) and his general sense of humor is the same too.

Also, Dartannian joined fairly shortly after Bernie left, which might be a coincidence, but it does fit the theory.

No, Raskolnikov. No, wait: Chekhov. Sartre. Decarte. Locke! Democritus! Theophrastus! Paracelsus!

See, I'm ALSO well read! I can rattle off writers and philosophers' names all day, too!

Don't like being joked about your feminimisimums do you?

Amazingu Aug 11, 2012 (edited Aug 11, 2012)

What on earth are you talking about?

Also, you misspelled Descartes.

Yeah, I know. I should know that. There's a coffee shop down the street named after the guy. I go there all the time. Favorite coffee shop ever. It's right next to Java the Hutt.

I wonder if Adam could check IP's if Dart's and Bern's would match. Wouldn't be the first time that Bern has changed his 'identity'.

Haven't seen that happen yet, so I assume you have some nifty links of cases where that might have happened.

When was the first time? I was gonna make a Vert1/Bern comparison.

How do we know you're not Bernhardt, Idolores? Hmm? We don't. He could be anybody.
