Wow, I just read a review of Ninety-Nine Nights, and it got slaughtered!  Too bad, I thought it had promise (not that I have a 360, but hey).  I did hear high praise for the soundtrack though, so there is hope for something good...

cheers,

Those reviews pretty much killed my interest in buying Ninety-Nine Nights.  Luckily I still have my Gamefly account going so I'm waiting for them to ship it.  Considering the price of 360 games, and my waxing and waning interest in gaming, Gamefly probably is something I'll just keep active.

This is not directed at you specifically, but I wonder why anyone had positive expectations of this game.  It was clear from the start it was a Dynasty Warriors clone.

I personally thought the graphics looked great, and I was intrigued by the visual style.  As for the it being a Dynasty Warriors clone, I have no problem with that so long as it's done well (but apparently N3 sucks).  I might get the soundtrack though, if it's as good as people say.

I found the soundtrack to be really boring and sold it almost as quickly as I ripped it to my computer, but that's just me. It seems like most of the time my opinion is totally opposite of a lot of other peoples'... so I guess that means you should buy it. wink

There were a couple of gems on the OST...Both of Shingo Yasumoto's tracks "Hammerfall" and "Spiral Maze" (but especially "Hammerfall") and "Comes Off Run There" from Nakamura. But those are really the only tracks I listen to on it. It's sort of a dark industrial/techno sound with some occasional rock or orchestra thrown in. No way I could justify dropping $30 on it, but "Hammerfall" = <3. I can listen to that groove for hours.

I have to keep an eye out for Yasumoto though...Hopefully he'll get his own soundtrack one of these days.

Edit: @Xlord: Hey, Dynasty Warriors is a great series to draw inspiration from. Only flaw is the game probably isn't worth shelling out nearly $500 to play it (read: it's no killer app), when you can just snag DW 3, 4 or 5 on the cheap and get 30-40 hours or more from each. Other than Ace Combat, my favorite action game/series from this generation.

Yeah, I don't get the DW-hate either.  At least they attempted to do something different by adding that third level attack thing.  I don't know; I'm still looking forward to it finally showing up from Gamefly.  If anything, it'll be worth a play through.
