How big is the helmet, that's what I want to know...

Crash Nov 1, 2006

As someone who regularly buys Bemani limited editions, I don't find the price all that upsetting.  Heck, the IIDX Happy Sky complete set (with the game, DVD, extra CD, T-shirt, figure, and poster) is going to cost me over $150:

Actually, check out the Metal Gear Solid Ops premium package:

At least it includes a PSP...

To balance out these insane prices, I should mention that P-A is selling Gurumin for the PSP for $10 this week:

Ah yes, I saw this in a Gamestop email I received. If all you get is a helmet, the Legendary edition is pretty silly. Unless it's life-sized and you can actually use it as part of the gameplay somehow.

ps Notice the release date is 1 year from now, and they're already taking preorders??

Hell, I put in my preorder for the GC Twilight Princess back in early 2005 before finally being told TODAY that the GC version was cancelled. And by that time, it was too late to roll over my deposit for the Wii version because Gamestop apparently has blocked any more preorders.

I really wonder why the hell I still deal with Gamestop.

maybe if it came with some live ammo....

Oh, what the hell, Nintendo? Do you just hate Gamecube owners or what? First Super Paper Mario and now this. Never mind how completely terrible the controls for the Wii version sound (I love the idea of Wii's sensor controls for anything but a Zelda-style game, as arm fatigue is inevitable), where's the respect for the people who've supported the GC to this point? Blah blah, bottom line, guaranteed sales, whatever. This was Nintendo's chance to prove they aren't the wallet-humping pricks Sony appear to be, and they botched it. I'm utterly disgusted by this development.

New Zelda for $50 and familiar controls was a sale.
New Zelda for $50 with new console for $250 and flyswatting swordfights is not.

Please tell me you're joking.

It's a lie. Pre-orders have apparently been stopped at several places, but the game is still set for release.

Nintendo's Japanese website still has it up on the Calendar for December 2nd, although they do point out that it will only be sold ONLINE, which is interesting.

*phew*

While Nintendo is perfectly within their rights to emphasize the Wii version, this still pisses me off. Online only, limited quantities, a month after the Wii release... That's just shitty.

*goes to pre-order the GAMECUBE version of the game*

Jay Nov 2, 2006

Yeah, every story I hear about the GC version seems to make it harder and harder to get. I'm very iffy about the Wii version so I really hope that this doesn't go any further.

Kenology Nov 2, 2006

That mask better be a VR helmet or something.

Yeah, so I was told at the SECOND Gamestop that I went to. Needless to say that I am NOT very happy right now. I mean, it's really no big deal if I can't get it the day it comes out, at least if it's not a super-special limited edition with a 24K-plated gold disc or something, but what DOES tick me off is the fact that Mr. Gamestop Idiot TOLD me, "Oh, yeah, the GC version is cancelled," THEN screws me over even MORE by finding out the Wii version CAN'T be preordered anymore AFTER he cancels my GC preorder, then INSISTING that he can't reinstate my GC order because the game supposedly doesn't exist!

So, yeah. NOT happy.

Idolores Nov 3, 2006

Oh, come on, you guys! A full size Spartan helmet! I have a little brother not even half my age who'd love to tromp around the house with one of those! Not that I wouldn't do the same . . .

Yeah, you can tell that I am something of a sucker for novelty. *sheepish smile*

That doesn't appear to be a problem, judging by Kohler's impressions of the game.  Check it out, it's spoiler-free and focuses entirely on the experience of gameplay:

Actually, I've heard that the Wii will accept the GC controller to play Wii games, not just the emulated ones in the virtual console.

I really hope this is true, as I would really like to buy a Wii, but an injury a few years ago left me with precious little use of my right hand.  I kinda mash my knuckle against the buttons, so any game that you must use the right triggers for is a no go for me.  So, needless to say, I won't be able to use the nunchuk(sp?) controller.  Hell, I can't hold it, let alone use it.  Unfortunately, Japan isn't as kind to their disabled as the US, so there aren't any A.D.A rules.  sad  So I'm holding off on buying one until I get verification that Wii games will play with the CG controller.

Wow, I guess that means I won't be playing Halo 3, even though that L.E. looks kinda spiffy.  Though I'd love to see the disc that has "A special hi-res collection of all cinematics from Halo 1 and Halo 2 with director commentary from the Bungie Team bonus".  hmm

But speaking about game limited editions, I fork out cash for some of the cooler ones, like the Valkyrie Profile Silmeria Artifact Box, or the Xenosaga II Premium Box.  My biggest setback, pricewise, for an L.E. box had to have been for the PS1 Valkyrie Profile, which came with a calendar, and a very nice pocketwatch.  I wish I had a pic of it.

It's possible, but only if the game is programmed to recognize the NGC controller, which from what I've read, Zelda is not.  The only Wii game I've read to actually be compatible with the NGC controller is Metal Slug, unless anyone knows of any others.

I think Nintendo is making a GC-like controller for the Wii.  This means you'll be able to use the "classical" controller, but you'll also have to fork over $20 more.   Of course, it'll also have limited use, and will probably not be compatible with most Wii games (but should be compatible with downloaded and GC games).

The Classic (or any other Wii specific) controllers won't be compatible with GC games as neither Wii's GC compatibility mode nor the GC games know about them. Only controllers connected through the GC controller connectors will be detectable for GC games (but Wii games can be made aware of the GC controller connectors as well).

OK, so I guess that means that our GC controllers should work on the Wii.  That's good, but is Nintendo going to "force" people to purchase the classic controller for downloaded games?  That seems rather Sonyesque in my opinion.
