Hope no one got shot!
Well, we know that some people certainly did, but hopefully no one I know!  I still think Sony is full of crap, and I'm beginning to think so is IGN.  Here is what IGN said about the PS3:

"The bottom line is that no matter what it costs Sony to make one, you only have to pay $600 to own it. In that sense, you're getting a hell of a bargain when you purchase a PS3."

Yeah...a hell of a bargain all right.  Seems almost Faustian!  Sony is trying to push their blue-ray DVD technology, and thus we should be happy that we're "only" paying $600??  Screw that!  Get a Wii I say smile

cheers,

I didn't get one (surprise!), but I did play one. I was largely unimpressed. The L2 and R2 buttons felt more like hangnails than buttons on a game control. Two thumbs down.

I did not buy a ps3, but that is the best title ever!

all in all, you're getting a very powerful machine, it may not have good games right now and maybe for a months to come, but overal $600 for this technology ain't that bad if you ask me.
of course I'm for wii(games and feel that counts), but within a year or so you'll have pretty good reasons to own ps3 eventually(MGS4, FFXIII, T6).

i'd be worried that the vibrations from the dualshock controller would bring that seller's doublewide trailer crashing down to a pile of splinters...

Nah, remember, the sixaxis or whatever dumb name the new controller is doesn't feature rumble at all this time.  Nothing to worry about!

While we're noting the dangerous situations that can arise from having new consoles, remember back to when the PS2 was equally "Hot" of an item...

I had managed to find a PS2 very close to launch and someone must have been watching me carry it to my place from the parking lot, because about 4 days later my apartment got broken into and robbed during the day while I was in class, and they cleaned out everything electronic in my entire living room.

Needless to say I didn't stay in that neighborhood long.

Whoa...  I know that sucked.
