I noticed that since noon (the last six minutes) my system tray has been flashing with that neat blue.  Apparently, that means my system is downloading something from Nintendo---does anyone know what it is because I checked GAF, IGN, and NintendoWorldReport and none of them mention an update?

I just hope your machine isn't catching the clap from a dirty Wii on the wi-fi network.

Heh, true.  I turned on the system since I couldn't find anything online anywhere and noticed nothing was different.  I checked the email box, even though it didn't say I had a new email, and there was one in there from Nintendo telling me I can update so the Forecast Channel will work.

So two channels left to go:  News Channel and Internet Channel, the latter was supposed to be available at launch.

I love the forecast channel.  The globe interface is really nice and while it has my city, it doesn't seem to have a lot of big cities right now.  The sound effects for rain are kinda neat too.  (If you roll over a city where it's raining, the Wii makes rain sounds)

Apparently Internet is coming on Friday and will be free until June when it require 500 points (one time payment) to use)

The Wii slot glowing merely indicates that the Wii has received something... not that it is currently in the process of doing something on the internet.  I always bug my friends to send me messages because I like coming home to the system glowing.  wink

Oh, the manual stated that dim means it has received while bright means it is receiving.  However, mine was alternating between the two.  This was new to me, since I've not befriended others with the thing.  I'm not sure why that is necessary until online play begins and I get a game worth playing.  Although I notice Elebits lets you exchange something.

I think I wasted nearly a half-hour tonight just messing with it.  It's quite nifty.

Has anyone made mp3s of the various Wii menu musics?  I've had my Forecast Channel up for almost an hour now - it's so relaxing!
