You're in for a treat if you're just getting into these. Yep, the characters totally make the game. They are wonderful and the games have so many funny moments.

Very satisfying game, actually, especially if it gets a lot better than that first case (which I hear it does).

Better and longer. The first case is very truncated, only lasting an hour or two. The later cases are up to five hours a piece.

Another convert?  *throws celebratory confetti a la Gumshoe*

Ahh, to experience Sahwit's toupée toss for the very first time..... the first of Phoenix's many hilarious physical abuses.   How I envy you newcomers. ;p

You'll find that most cases end with the opportunity to "cheer up" the defendant by presenting a final piece of evidence.  It won't affect the overall ending, but it leave a happier and more encouraging impression.

Except for the final piece that you're allowed to present at the end of the second game. Presenting the right one nets you an extra scene after everything else is said and done. (At least, I don't see how the scene could have taken place if you offered up the wrong item)

I believe I've tried presenting the wrong item once, just to see what happens -- but the ending sequence plays out anyway.  It goes something along the lines of, "Say, let me borrow this item for a bit...."

Do note that each successive game brings back certain themes and tracks from its predecessors.  The third game technically boasts the largest soundtrack, with fifty-three tracks total. (34 new songs for PW3, 12 from PW2, and 7 from PW1.  Yes, I really did tally them up. ^_^)

Aack, I missed a song each from PW1 and PW2!   Make that 13 from PW2, and 8 from PW1..... fifty-five tracks total for PW3.

Sorry!  Sorry!  Sorry!  >_<;

And, in what is considered a most pleasant surprise, GameLife is reporting that Capcom has Apollo Justice pegged for an "early 2008" U.S. release.  That should be a clear cue for you folks slagging behind on the Phoenix trilogy.... Get movin'!!

Is it just me, or is does it sound like the music wasn't redone for the DS? I ask because there's a noticeable difference in music between the GBA OST and the DS game rip that's floating around for PW2. The music on the DS for PW3 sounds straight from the GBA. No biggie, just curious.

The music does not appear to be not redone.  As far as I can tell, they only enhanced the music for the first DS game.

It might not be too noticeable in-game, but I can hear a difference in the GBA and DS PW2 music. I uploaded a couple of MP3s for comparison.

The DS score for PW3 was definitely remastered.  It didn't quite get the overhaul the first two games got, but it is a marked improvement over the GBA original.  As I mentioned somewhere in this thread, the sound fidelity sounds crisper and clearer, and some of the midi instrument choices had been carried over from the first two DS games.

Give the GBA OST a listen on Final Turnabout, and then compare it to TheRedPriest's most excellent rip of the DS score here:

I'm certain you'll notice the differences right away.
