I never knew that you were such a huge SNES fan.  It's great.

So how's your collection looking right now?  I haven't picked up a new SNES game in a while.

As for current SNES gaming, I started playing through DKC2 again, and damn, it's still one of the greatest games of all time.  It's become popular these days to call the first game overrated (derivative gameplay or not, it's still a lot of fun, and the way that it reinvented DK in a memorable way is an awesome achievement in itself), but I wish that those people wouldn't ignore the second game in the process.  It improves upon the original in virtually every respect and it has to be one of the most well-designed 2D platformers there is.  For me it's the only game that rivals SMB3 for the spot of best 2D platformer ever.  Maybe I'll break out Super Mario All-Stars and give that one another whirl as well.

I also played Shadowrun for a good while, but I didn't know what to do after escaping from the one junkyard area.  The game opens up considerably after that point.  It's a very atmospheric title and I'd like to get further if I can.  I like the mix of adventure game and RPG that the game uses.

About time that game got the props it deserves. Had pretty good music, too.

Maxing out everyone's magic is something I've always wanted to do, but never had the patience to.

Cactuar FTW.

Seriously... but I ended up fighting a TON of Hoovers. It was ok, because that's how I got a ton of EXP, and I'd just exploit Vanish/X-Zone for those bastards.

Huh. No idea about that strategy. I just equipped my dudes with armour or accessories that negated it's wind attack, and hoped to God that it didn't "Snort" or "Crush" me to death while I worked it with Ice magic.

You're right, though. Buffing levels is best with Hoover. big_smile

Super Mario RPG. I've been replaying the game lately. Still as classic as it was over ten years ago.

Couldn't wait for the Virtual Console release, which could take forever.

Oh SMRPG is just out of this world.  I've played it a bit recently though (recently for an RPG anyway) so its a bit fresh in my head still.  I def. recommend you (or anyone) try a low level run, its a LOT of fun.  Definetely gave me something new to do!

Super Mario RPG is indeed a classic, but I hated those damn hidden treasure chests. I spent hours searching for that last one in literally every area, only to find out that you only have a split second to get it at the beginning of the game >_<  I ended up replaying the whole game just for that one chest.

They're tough aren't they?  Despite having played the game numerous times and having fooled myself into believing I've memorised every little detail, I was still missing 10 some in my last run, WITH the Signal Ring!  They are tricky.

Cactuar FTW. I never did get all of Strago's Lores or Gau's Rages, though. I hated the randomness of the Veldt.

I myself remember using the dinosaurs in the Triangle Island (or somewhere near that?  I remember it was a wood of some king.)  Unfortunetly, and I found this out FAR too late when I was young, haha, but its impossible to fill out all of the rages.  16 or so never show up in your tally leaving nice blank spaces that used to taunt me in my young obsessive-filled mind.  Luckily I'm not like that anymore... (*rolls eyes at saying that after time trialing the same track in WO3 for two weeks*)

Depends on the genre. If you want to get sucked in by a longer game I would of course recommend FF3 again. Action/platforming, DKC or DKC2. Slower action game? Castlevania IV or Demon's Crest. Man, I love me some SNES. I still come back to this thread pretty often to check older recommendations and beef up my collection.

Nice to know you're still buying games Zane, that makes me happy to hear wink

DKC is out-of-this-world, I was playing some with my cousin online (after introducing it to him and to my surprise, him loving it!), but he refused to play any more 2P until he practises more (and me, I've kinda played the game in and out.)  I'll do a quick run of it when I get back home.  You know, for all the talks of how 'shallow' and 'cheap' pre-rendered graphics supposedly were, I honestly feel that DKC (and its two sequals) are a beautiful looking games.

I need to (re)buy DKC2 again, as well as Castlevania 4/AKD (sold it with plans of getting the Japanese version), Super Metroid, F.F.III, C.Trigger (*laughs and sighs at eBay prices for nice copies*, so many games, so little time!
