Yep, just verified that.  Not that, you know, it really takes much to convince me to replay any of Mario Galaxy...  wink

They took the platinum version down a long time ago, it went fast.  They still have the regular edition available here though, but that one kinda sucks cause it's incomplete compared to the two disc platinum one.  Your only hope would be either Play Asia when they eventually put it up for pre-order or get one of the billion copies currently listed on YJA.  Either that or wait for some eBay seller to put it up and get ready to pay hundreds for it.  *calls out to Mr. S* wink

Kind of a strange quote from that NCSX product page I just linked to..

"Preorders are welcome to ship on or around February 23, 2007."

Assuming they meant 2008, I think that means all you guys with pre-orders there aren't getting your CDs for another month. sad

I'm still wondering how long it's gonna take someone to bootleg it...

Looks like it has begun..

There are a bunch with a Buy It Now of $55 plus $12 s/h and one douche has one up for $99.90 BIN plus $12.90 s/h.  People suck. tongue

Unless that only applies to the standard edition.  They did state that the Platinum edition was targeted to ship in January.

Which never quite made sense to me -- unless they put an order shipment in for the standard after the Platinum, and it'd somehow take that second shipment longer to arrive.

It's sad that I've used that one so many times in real life.

On topic, the CD is fantastic, so thanks, Amazingu! I haven't played the game yet, but "Bowser Jr. Appears" is my initial favorite.

The official word from NCSX:

NCSX wrote:

Dear NCS Customer,

Our Japanese supplier should be shipping our preorder of the Super Mario Galaxy Platinum OST this week but please note that they are raising the price due to the special arrangements required to obtain the OST from Club Nintendo.

NCS originally opened preorders last year at a price of US$33 but the new price will be US$43.36. We just want to cover our costs to bring these into the United States since the original price of $33 is now below our per unit procurement cost.

Because the price is being increased, we are asking our customers to reconfirm their preorders at the new price of US$43.36 + shipping. We will not process your preorder until we hear from you with your email confirmation that the new price is acceptable.

For those customers who have also preordered the Super Nintendo Controller, please also note that the price of the Super Nintendo Controller from Club Nintendo will most likely be hiked as well when it is released in April 2008. We will notify our customers before processing the Super Nintendo Controller preorders if the price is indeed hiked. Apologies for this problem.

So... can anyone direct me to another store that may be selling it?  I'm not familiar with Yahoo Japan, so any help would be much appreciated.

A bunch of crap.

Wow. That's kinda ridiculous, man. sad Unfortunately, I don't know of any other stores that are selling it at the moment, but if you need some help with YJ I may be able to hook you up.

Ashley Winchester Feb 4, 2008

wow, that is truly wack

speaking of retailers, it's taken two months and counting for Amazon.com to fill my order for a copy of Pearl Jam's No Code for my sister. Never had that happen before.

Qui-Gon Joe Feb 4, 2008

Ugh, I think I'm just going to have to swallow the extra $10 for the sake of easiness, but that is kind of ridiculous (I really don't think you'd save that much buying it from Y!J auctions after the middleman fee).  I don't know if anybody here noticed this, but Play-Asia also jacked their price up to over $40 a little bit after preorders began.  Did any of you who ordered it from there get stuck with that price?

Vaeran Feb 4, 2008

Yeah, I'm think I'm going to have to suck it up and agree to NCSX's bullshit too, just because I want this over with.  Honestly though, this is going to be my first and last order from them.

TerraEpon Feb 4, 2008

Probably because of this

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=USDJPY=X&t=3m

Honestly, NCSX has been one of the "good guys" for at least eleven years, so I wouldn't put them off so quickly. I'm sure anywhere else will cost more.

Carl Feb 4, 2008 (edited Feb 4, 2008)

The pricing blame should be aimed at the lack of using normal retail distribution.  The limited access ain't the retailer's fault.

Nemo Feb 4, 2008

NCSX is one of the best importers, really, always honest and trustworthy.  Yeah, the price increase would piss me off too, but like Carl said, it's not their fault, you can't reallt expect them to lose money on every album they are selling.  I remember when I bought Under Defeat LE from them, and I wasn't one of the lucky ones to get a sticker due to limited amounts.  Like I care about stickers.  But they actually took the time to send me the sticker in the mail once they got some more in.  Like I care about stickers, still a nice gesture though.

I'd recommend just getting the normal version when it drops for $20, the second disc is more novelty anyway.

Arcubalis Feb 4, 2008

I bought from Play-Asia at the $29 price.  I didn't hear anything regarding an increase in price, and supposedly it shipped last week, so we'll see.

Angela Feb 4, 2008

I'm sticking it out with NCSX, too.  They've always treated me right, and they've always been on the level when things like this turn up.  Other places might flagrantly charge you for the order without acknowledgement, but at least NCSX gives you the option to cancel (at the very last minute, even) if you so choose.

Agreed.  I don't care about the extra $10.  NCSX has never let me down.

Kenology Feb 4, 2008

Alright.  Since the two of you are so confident in NCSX, I'll stick with them as well.  I've never dealt with them before, so this is a new for me.  Plus, I must have the two disc soundtrack - not the single disc orchestral stuff alone.

Thanks for the offer though, Zane.

RinoaDestiny Feb 4, 2008

Got mine from Play-Asia today. smile It looks nice but it's annoying to take the first disc out. I'm almost afraid I'm going to bend or snap the thing in half. Besides that point, I've ripped the music to my hard drive and will soon enjoy it. The shiny silver packaging is hot. And two bonus tracks on Disc 1? Score!

jb Feb 4, 2008

I will have two coming, one from Jerold and one from Play Asia, so I will have an extra one if anyone is interested.

Ugh that happens to me with every single Japanese two-disc set that I buy.  :\

That possibility always arises with some of those CDs that are placed in those unflexible (no push button release) packs. My GiTS 7-CD set is like that. I remove them with the utmost delicacy.

Oh, heh...I just gave a quick run through the first disc. The two bonus tracks are the Blue Athletic Sky and rearranged Super Mario Bros. theme. So yeah, sorry for the misinformation - I got too excited and didn't read the katakana. On the other hand, the underwater version of Buoy Base is on Disc 2 (w00t!) and some classic rearrangements of Mario themes sneak in. One of the best soundtrack purchases this year, definitely.

Kirin Lemon Feb 5, 2008

Huzzah, my YesAsia order just shipped out today!

Zane Feb 5, 2008

It's so nice to see so many of us picking up the same album and being so enthusiastic about it. I can't remember the last time this happened. smile

Pellasos Feb 6, 2008

champ currently has a few up for a fair price.

got get em! smile

That's true. Well, for me, it's a good time for soundtracks. I haven't bought VGM since the Shadow of the Colossus OST. But now I just got Nights 2, SH0 and Mario Galaxy and have the new Nights cd set preordered. There's some good stuff to be had at the moment.

But Galaxy's music is really special. I was blown away by it in-game.

Edit: Oh, also got Gears of War and Stranger's Wrath soundtrack recently too so that's more VGM than I've bought in the last couple of years.

Jay wrote:

Yeah. This was one of those occasions where I heard the music and just *had* to have it. Looking back... maybe the last time that happened was killer7?

Jay wrote:

How is the GOW OST? I saw it in a local CD shop but didn't pick it up. I'm not really into that whole moody-orchestral stuff too much, and I just assumed that's what it would be like.

Jay Feb 6, 2008

Yep, your assumption is spot-on. And for a moody orchestral soundtrack, I think it's pretty great but I have to admit I rarely pop on that sort of soundtrack for a quick listen. Every now and again, though, I go for something like that and Gears is a good one.

But it's all very much in one style and if that's not your thing it would have nothing to offer.

Arcubalis Feb 6, 2008

Jay wrote:

Wasn't so impressed with Gears.  But Stranger's Wrath was excellent!  I can't wait to hear what Michael Bross does next.

As far as music for 2007, I think Super Mario Galaxy and Granado Espada were on top.

Jay Feb 6, 2008

Yeah, I was really impressed with the Stranger's Wrath soundtrack. Reminded me just how much I loved that game.

Back on the Galaxy OST, I'm glad I was able to get the 2 disc version. Yeah most of the real highlights (and of course orchestral tracks) are on the first cd but I adore some of the second disc tracks and would have missed them. I can't even see why they bothered doing two versions rather than just the 2 disc as standard. But then I think it's crazy that it's not being made available through normal distribution channels.

Now, see, if you put Nights 2 next to SotC, SH0 and SMG, that makes me EXTREMELY curious.
I've never played any Nights game, so I have no idea what to expect.

What's it like?
Can I take it this comes recommended?

Jay Feb 7, 2008

Well it comes recommended from me, certainly. I wasn't a big huge of the game but I adore the music. You should see if you can find a few samples and have a listen.

Stebroc Feb 8, 2008

Hello.I read on this discussion a partial resolution of my question.Specifically the tracks that koji kondo composed for the galaxy soundtrack.
07 Egg Planet  2:41
08 Rosetta's Comet Observatory 1  2:27
13 Rosetta's Comet Observatory 2  2:24
18 Rosetta's Comet Observatory 3  2:44
Yes ok...but in many interviews koji says that he composed four new tracks. So are only two(egg planet, rosetta observatory). And the others two??

Perhaps one of  the others is that marked in this link http://www.gmronline.com/info.asp?CatNumber=club

The tracks number 3 of  first disc.composed by Koji Kondo, arranged by Mahito Yokota

03 Attack! Koopa's Fleet  1:19
