Inspired by a similar post, I decided to poll our voters and find out about their caffeine addiction smile

As for myself, I drink neither alcohol nor coffee! I know, it's unusual, but I stick to water. Although I do love fresh orange juice too! Anyway, I really don't know anything about coffee, except that I don't like it and don't drink it. Oh, and it's a psychoactive drug. Apparently it's bad for spiders:

I believe, in all seriousness, I have had one sip of coffee in my entire life. I depend upon calories for energy. Few people seem to understand that concept.

Hehe, I liked the bit about spiders. My spider biology book also mentioned that.

Amazingu Nov 5, 2008

Nope, no coffee for me. Maybe like a small cup, once in a half year or something, but I don't like it very much at all.

Times change... America demands change! Besides, we have plenty of new people here! You don't seriously expect people to search and dredge up threads from years ago, do you?

No coffee for me, but I drink Diet Coke like there's no tomorrow!!  That, and I'll have a Monster energy drink before practice in leu of dinner (on occasion).

Jay Nov 5, 2008

I adore coffee and have two cups every morning. But two cups a day probably isn't all that much.

S'yeah.  A better thread might have been, "So who here has drunk potassium cyanide and lived to tell the tale?"

Actually, I do have what I think is a good one, but I don't want to hijack the current thread.  Yet at the same time, I'm not sure if creating an entirely new thread would be considered obnoxious.  Hm, hm......

From two years ago:

I usually rock a medium Dunks French Vanilla with cream and sugar, but I'm down for whatever. Maxwell House in the morning (thanks mom!), Starbucks during the day, decaf at night... as long as it doesn't taste like mud and/or a pile of sugar, I dig.

Now I am 100% caffeine free. No soda, no energy drinks, but more specifically: no coffee. I don't miss it much, although I did quit caffeine earlier in the spring/summertime, so who knows how I'll feel during the winter when it gets cold out and I want a hot bevvy to heat me up a bit... although I do have herbal and naturally decaffeinated tea once every couple of days, so I'm sure that'll do just fine. I don't trust decaf coffee because it's not naturally decaf; there's a process that the beans undergo to "un"caffeinate them. There could be as little of a trace or caffeine up to it not being decaf at all - and after the headache/drowsy/miserable withdrawal I went through there's no way I'm gonna even think about doing it again. tongue

For the previous 8 months I've barely had any coffee, now I drink a few cups the days I'm at work in the morning. I use to work 3pm to 11pm but now work 7am to 7pm (longer but fewer days, same amount of hours per week minus four) mainly to get a little jolt and get warm. When they open those doors in shipping and recieving it gets cold!

I did end up getting totally hooked on canned/bottled milk coffee drinks while I was in Japan.  I now rely on the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Chicago to get my fix... their Pokka brand ones are pretty much the only kind I can afford!

...I miss stopping at a nearby vending machine on the way to work in the morning to get whatever random flavor they might have.  Vanilla Maple was AWESOME.

XLord007 Nov 5, 2008

No coffee for me.

Schala Nov 6, 2008

I drink coffee when I desperately need to stay awake (which isn't often), or when I feel like using up those free packets in hotels (which still isn't often, 'cause nowadays they usually include tea, and we go for the tea more), or when I have a Starbucks gift card and say "oh, what the hey, I'll get coffee along with some sweet stuff." Which, again, isn't really often. ^_~

Hot Green Tea will see ya through the winter just fine, trust me

Coffee is by and large part of my morning ritual.

And every Friday night, my siblings and friends toast the end of the week by "going to coffee" at the Seattle's Best in the local Borders. This past summer, I've been thriving on the Javanilla milkshake. *lick chops*

And may I also say that Austin needs more Dunkin Donuts...BADLY.

XISMZERO Nov 6, 2008 (edited Nov 6, 2008)

I'm a black coffee fiend. When I'm home, I grind beans. I'm so fanatical about the quality of my coffee that I bought a restaurant-style commercial BUNN brewer for home (http://www.flickr.com/photos/10073060@N … 480088743/).

I've had canned coffee before and man is that stuff awful -- like drinking Sanka with powdered cream.

When I'm away, I'm usually at Dunkin' Donuts. I usually have anywhere between 20 oz. to 48 oz. a day.

Haha, funniest thing I've heard all day.

Also.. yes, I usually drink one medium Dunkin Donuts coffee every morning.  Skim milk and sugar, for those wondering, though I do get BLACK every once in a while.  Lately I've been getting their pumpkin spice coffee, so good.  I used to do energy drinks but they started giving me the jitters.  I even tried one of those 5 hour energy shot things one time and it ended up making me super hyper and my face turned really red, not cool.

All the time baby, all the time! I love coffee, and I always take it black as the deepest night and hot like the fires of hell. smile No milk, sugar, or any of that for me. Why tamper with intensity?

I think part of my love for this beverage is from being brainwashed by Twin Peaks as a 10-year old. See here:

Damn good coffee. And hot!

I am a tea drinker as well and my favorite would have to be green tea.

At most I used to drink capuccinos but that was years ago.

I just hope Godot doesn't hear me otherwise I might get presented with a steaming mug of coffee. tongue

I'm sipping on a DD Pumpkin Spice at this very moment.  It is good, though much too sweet for my tastes; I'm thinking it'd taste better if I put a bit of straight up black to lessen the sweetness a bit.

Funny, ten years ago, my young taste buds would have no objections to this level of sugar.  Ah, I'm getting old.

longhairmike Nov 10, 2008

i use a 24oz mug for my coffee. i put a small scoop of ice cream in first then pour the coffee over it slowly. this helps cool it down fast enough so i can chug it and pour myself a 2nd one. there's usually a spontaneous pee break between mug 1 & 2. Its like pouring hot water down a drain.

i would never pay 2-4$ for a cup of coffee at some shop.

I'll see your Dunkin' Donuts Pumpkin Spice, and raise you a Starbucks Gingerbread Latte.  Stuff's become my lifeline these past few chilly weeks.

James O Dec 15, 2009

During December I'm addicted to Starbucks Egg Nog Latte's with a shot of Gingerbread syrup.  good schtuff..  And their new Caramel Brule ain't half bad either.

At work I'll use Egg Nog instead of creamer in my coffee (when I choose to drink office swill).  Makes for a nice change.
