I thought this might be of interest, since there were/are threads about VGL and Play:

Battle of the Games Concerts

Two  separate  concert  tours, both featuring scores from video games,
launch  near-simultaneous  worldwide dates. What's a geek-music fan to
do?

"Concerts of video-game soundtrack music have been doing brisk business ever since 2004..."

Change that date to 1988 for the first Dragon Quest concert.

You are right, but the American game press never cared that much about Japan or Europe at all, it is like they are non-existent. Ironic thing is that VGL is using arrangements from the Orchestral Game Concerts, as I recently read at some message boards.

Or add "in America" in that sentence and leave the date alone.

While this article is intended for the American audience, just saying "in the USA" and leaving it alone just reinforces the false impression that this a new and never-before-seen phenomenon, instead of giving at least some hint that other companies have been doing this over 18 years now...   But I'm just preaching to the choir, we all know about this already here  smile

"But they are still relatively young and risky ventures."

At 18 years and running, game music concerts are older than Google, heh!

Thanks for the tip about the article. Interesting one, and great that wired writes about this.
