Where is the NiGHTS Journey of Dreams love though guys? smile

I can't help but think that most of the people who didn't include that excellent soundtrack simply haven't heard it.  I suppose a lot of people would say that about their picks though.

Adam, are these results weighted by order of preference or does it just add up total mentions?

The latter.  Weighted entries might be a feature for future polls but I didn't see the need for it in this one.

Just to clarify, are we judging the soundtrack of the game or the soundtrack release? If so, what if a soundtrack didn't get a release?

Well we were judging soundtrack releases although a couple people did choose non-released soundtracks in-game.  Will be sure to specify for future polls.

I guess I'm too late for the poll, but here are my favourite game-related music albums of the year anyway (in no particular order):

Afrika Original Soundtrack
Battlefield Bad Company (FLAC soundtrack from werkshop.com)
Chrono Trigger Orchestra Extra Soundtrack
drammatica The Best of Yoko Shimomura
Echoes of War
Fable II Original Soundtrack
Infinite Undiscovery Original Soundtrack
Super Mario Galaxy Original Sound Track Platinum Version
Video Games Live Greatest Hits Volume One

Afrika in particular is surprisingly excellent.  It could easily be the soundtrack to a movie.  It's a sweeping orchestral score with some memorable themes.  Wataru Hokoyama is channeling vintage John Williams, yet still sounds original.  Great score.

I'm surprised Echoes of War and Video Games Live didn't make it in the short list in this poll.  Both are some of the best recordings of game music arrangements ever.  Very worth checking out.
